Welcome back to the channel
In this weeks video I show you how to replace rear wheel bearings/hub assemblies on a 2012 Fiat 500 1.4 L SOHC nonturbo mated automatic. This is definitely a job that you can do in the driveway provided you don't run into the same issue that I had where the bolts weren't exactly the size they were when they were new. Unfortunately the placement of the bolt on the vehicle and rust can make your life really really difficult. That being said once you get past that obstacle it's pretty easy. So helpful to have all the torque specs listed in the video (unlike other vids for this same repair using an air tool to tighten the bearing retainer nut!). Thanks again.

Thank you for that comment. Those calliper bolts are real pain. Hopefully you don't live in the rust belt.

Thanks for the great vid, I have my wife's 500 sport to do and since I'm a Chevy tech, ASE Master since 80's, we all want to see it done so we get it right the 1st time. Your lingo is spot-on! I have more skint knuckles and cuts from ignorant engineers and bean counters leaving no room to access bolts etc. and sharp stamped sheet metal I know very well how to talk to a car too! I am surprised how simple the hub really is, the bolts are another thing. And my wife bought her Fiat new and was calculating its value, she found that the fuel savings paid for the car almost 2 times, now having her own tech that doesn't charge any labor hmmm? At least in North Carolina there's next to no salt or snow, discounting the beach of course, and now rear hubs and coming up on the 2nd timing belt...

Yeah I would love to be a technician down south. I know from certain cars that I've worked on that have come up from the states it is so much better. You guys are so lucky. As for the Fiat they're not terrible cars but they do have a lot of funky little problems that can drive you nuts and of course you saw the design in the video was just spectacular LOL, but that's every manufacturer. @@JimmysAutoClinic I know what you're saying, I've worked on cars from New York and Michigan and they were really rusty like through the rotors. I'm sorry to say that I spent about 40 minutes and had both hubs off, no rust here in North Carolina, but I knew what bolts to turn thanks to you, Thanks! Jim

What side socket do you use

I'm assuming that you're asking me what size of socket that I used for the caliper? It was a 13 mil and then the stripped bolts I used a half inch and luckily I was able to get them loose. If that's not what you're referring to please specify and I'll let you know if I remember.

The locknut on the bearing is 32mm

Thanks for the humour. I really ask myself why I didn't change both stupid 13 mm bolt the last time I worked on the brake. Now I have a sour finger and a fuck..g bolt that wont come off now that is a 12.5...I will try to heat it and use a half inch calf wrench. Questo e un design scifoso. (Italian for it's a real shitty design)

Yes it is really unfortunate design. I know how you feel exactly because there's so many times where we don't think about it but the same Hardware back on because who wants to wait for it but the next time around you really scratch your head and realize you'll never do that again, but of course at some point in the future I'm sure I'll make that mistake again LOL
