Our Jaguar XF is a stunning turbo diesel, luxury saloon which has all the comfort and grace you expect from a Jag along with the ability to achieve over 40 mpg combined fuel economy. The XF was launched in 2008 but this 2nd generation model was launched 3 years later with more modern looks, a revised interior and a more efficient, 4 cylinder turbo-diesel engine.
Finished in black with black full-leather interior this car is part luxury saloon and part fastback coupe with a long bonnet, sweeping roofline and relatively short tail. Thanks to a ground hugging stance, it has huge road presence. The black exterior colour is perfect to show off this cars chrome and brightwork - It is very eye-catching in this colour combination. Inside, the car has a full black leather interior which even after 140k miles and 12 years of use, looks spectacular with barely any sign of wear. Of course, being a Jag there is an abundance of leather, wood and aluminium on display in the luxurious cockpit. However there is also a very modern twist. The Jaguar is keyless and as you step inside and press the start button and an aluminum gear selector glides upwards as the steering column drops into position and the dash panels revolve to reveal the cars air vents. Already you get the feeling that you're in something rather special and that is before you even release the (electronic) handbrake. The diesel powerplant is extremely refined - Even when cold it is muted by the well insulated cabin. The centre console has a large touchscreen which displays the cars multimedia stereo system, (with 9 speakers!!) satellite navigation and also acts as a visual aid for the rear parking sensors. The leather bound steering wheel houses controls for the cars audio system and cruise control whilst a multi-function computer is controlled at the end of the column stalk. Everything in this car is fully electric including the large leather seats and the steering column which glides upwards when the ignition is of to allow easier access. You will adore the styling and the quality - The attention to detail is superb with leather stitching on the dashboard and door cards and large slabs of wood veneer which glide out of site to reveal cupholders and odments storage. Despite the car having a mammoth amount of electrical goodies its interior manages to look classy and uncluttered. It's a mix of high-tech and tradition make it the perfect place to unwind and escape the stresses of the outside world.
This car has a very useable 187bhp and with the 8 speed automatic gearbox it is keen to live up to its badge and heritage. That gearbox has a sports mode for when you want to press on and also a manual mode using steering wheel mounted paddles. With huge ABS brakes, ESP stability and traction control the XF is not just a pretty face - it offers superb handling and roadholding which are guaranteed to please the keen driver, as well as those who want comfort and luxury. The driving position is excellent and visibility is superb and despite the sweeping roofline it is a spacious car and with the cruise control set to 70 mph there are few places I would rather be than behind the wheel of this XF. The XF also comes with bluetooth for telephone and audio streaming.
