This was a fabulous show! I took my 6 year old son. The looks on his face were priceless. It's too bad that budget cuts are preventing fun shows like this.

I saw these guys in Daytona beach back in October, got to watch them practice for two days and then a Saturday and Sunday show all for free it was awesome.

I will always love the thunderbirds. To me they are so loud but so flipping cool.

I went to this show on the Sunday and it was fabulous as usual. I will watch this team perform until the day I die! I grew up watching The U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds being I am an Air Force brat and will continue to do so as I mentioned. Great show as always! I have never come away from any of these disappointed.

They came to Northkingston, RI on june 16-17, I took my kids to see them, It was my first time,,they are great. I saw Blue Angel in Northfolk Virginia in 1986.

I miss watching the Thunderbirds @ March reserve base every 2 years. Now I am up here in Puyallup WA. witch is 30 min. from Joint Base Lewis Mcchord in Tacoma Wa. they have their air shows every 4 years. Can't wait to return to Riverside CA.

If you guys notice the crowd is always more excited about the Thunderbirds than the Blue Angels or any other squadron, they are more proud and love it more!

MrThatsYe, you might want to do some research. Blue Angel pilot tour of duty is for 2 years, same as Thunderbirds. The exception is #7, who narrates for a year, then fills a 2 year tour as a demo pilot. There have been recent exceptions where a recent pilot has been recalled as an emergency replacement, such as when LCdr Craig Olsen returned after his 3 year tour to replace LCdr Davis after his fatal crash.

I'm not sure you know what you are talking about. Capt. McWherter has been on the team for four years due to the fact that 2011 boss Cmd. Koss stepped down. Then Capt. McWherter being the most recent boss, took command of the team. Here is the Blue Angels 2012 team for you. #1 Capt. Greg McWherter 4th year on the team(please see note above). #2 Lt. John Hiltz 1st year on the team. #3 Capt. Brandon Cordill 1st year on the team. #4 Maj. Brent Stevens 2nd year on the team.

Dude it's cool watching them progress throughout the year becoming better and better! I still think they put on the best show, and I love how fast they fly etc. Each pilot only flies for 2 years unlike blue angels where they haven't changed up pilots in 4+ years!! lame and unfair. Still Thunderbirds impress me the most!

Pilots rotate through the Blue Angels on a similar 2 year rotation. It is very rare for any pilot to remain with (or return to) the Blues for more than a 2 year flying billet.

I KNOW. That's what they're supposed to follow but they haven't kept up lately. I'm just stating Thunderbirds have been much more consistent the past few years

Thunderbirds and Blue Angels are amazing! Blue Angels fly a more demanding profile in my opinion because they don't wear G-suits.

turn a car at 10 mph compared to 90 mph, same goes for while flying, more difficult flying 50-100 mph in formation. Also they actually haven't switched up their pilots in 3+ years, and some even 4-5 years as a blue angel, they haven't been sticking to what they say, next year they actually finally found a new commander, and like 3-4 other pilots, they will probably be rough at first, like the Tbirds every year since they always change it up. and they fly different shows so thats why

F-16 is just a better-looking plane than F-18, especially with the Thuderbird paint scheme. These 2 designs were both entered back in the 70s in the lower-cost fighter competition - F-16 was the winner.

I do like the blues, but like you, I like the T-birds more. Therefore my comment about them being a disappointment. I do however know they will progress and I too look forward to that.

Hehe, unfortunately you're way off MrThatsYe. The Blue Angel officers serve 2 years on the team. The narrator, number 7, serves 3 years. The enlisted serve 3 years. Capt McWherter is only serving a year as he was brought back after Capt Koss relieved himself. Like the Thunderbirds, the Blue Angels also have alumni that help to ferry line aircraft and spares between sites for depot degrading or to replace a down aircraft, etc, etc. The teams operate very similarly.

Ok first of all the Blue Angels DO change up every 2 years so that statement is false about them being unfair. 2nd why does it matter how fast they fly. Plus the faster they fly the shorter the show is. 3rd at 24:47 not only would Blue Angel 5 be upside down but so would 6. I also believe the Blue Angels demonstrate every unique demand that naval aviators have.

No, blue angels and thunderbirds shows are NOT the same. it's a fact, and so the angels have 1 new officer? not even flying? and you stated another pilot on his 3rd year. Tbirds get 2 years as an officer MAX, they change their position the following year. they switch out 6 officers of 12 every year.

Once they are in their cockpits, they're allowed to make unsynchronized body movements. That's a shame.

Hehe, you know the subject had to do with your statement of how long members of either team served and nothing about the performance itself. Being former Navy, I would figure you'd value integrity above all else. That you like one team over another is no issue at all. Your opinion is yours and valuable imho. But to confuse the conversation with bad info about service tours, no biggy, and to deflect to a non-issue just to be right in some regard is not honorable.
