This vehicle was brought to us without any check engine light but to diagnose an engine oil leak. Diagnosis revealed a leaking oil pan. Upon removing the pan, we found broken timing guide pieces in the pan and in the oil pump pick up screen. To see these images, watch the video to the end.
We also found a mess of the typical coolant hose leak that connects from the expansion tank to the Turbocharger. I would not ever suggest attempting this job without the proper tools. Mini special tool 119630 made by Baum Tools may just be one of the most simple and useful tools on the market. This tool makes the job so much easier.
We also used the factory tool to install the new front crankshaft seal. Always use new camshaft and crankshaft sprocket bolts as they are torque to yield and very crucial not to fail.
To replace the oil pump, we had to remove the passenger side drive axle and support bracket. This is to gain access to the wiring harness for the oil pump.
