Excellent presentation. Details on the tools really helpful. My 10mm rachet wrench isn't a stubby at 3 1/2 in . Mine is 6 inches. I think if you leave the center plug out on the intake side will make it easier to get front passenger side out.

Your welcome. This video was a life saver. Taking that intake off was much more risk. This was a little troublesome but total gold. Thanks again my friend.

Very good video...one tip I do is to use a short piece of vacuum tubing, push on to top of spark plug. Then slowly lower in the plug hole and turn in the plug until it stops, then pulloff the tubing. Saves having to drop the plug in and insure no cross threading

Thanks for the helpful video, real life saver.. tool list, spot on... Especially with the swivel and short extension. Passenger side was killer on the hands, but easier t take wire off with coil oulled off, there was plenty of slack. Under the intake, used flat head to pry wire off the clamp while holding the other bracket lmao.. it was challenging, but got it in 3.5 hrs. Its roasting in TX!!! 🥵

Thx , just done this method. I have to say you need to have 2 sets of sockets for this job or bunch of extra extensions.Angle extension will help too. Ether way center one , and the one under intake was hardest. This job took me 2h40min. My highway fuel consumption went from 19l/100km to around 13.

Glad it got done. Yes the more extensions the better on this one. Those are impressive fuel savings.

Thanks for this DIY. I just acquired a 2012 Pathfinder, and am in the process of going through all the preventative maintenance items even though it has relatively low mileage. Your channel is going to be a great help. Spark plugs done today exactly as you described. I used NGK 96355 Ruthenium plugs, and, aside from a little hand cramping dealing with the front passenger side coil, all is good.

@DIYNorth

I think so. I believe the frontier has the VQ40DE engine as well. That said there are often differences across the an engines life cycle so there could be some differences between the 2006 and the 2012. I'm not 100% that they are identical.

Hello, I have a question, the spark plugs that I removed from my frontier pro4x 2011 are shorter than the ones they gave me in a car parts. So I'm afraid to put the longest ones on it and spoil my engine, how could I know which ones are the right ones?

@DIYNorth
@DIYNorth Жыл бұрын
You should be able to look up the correct plug on several web sites such as advance autoparts web site. Did you get the plugs from a Nissan Dealership? If so I would assume that they got the right ones. Are the ones that you removed from the vehicle the original plugs? If there is any doubt you could just take the number off the side of the ones that are in the vehicle and replace them if they have been working fine. If the potion of the plug that enters the engine is longer that could be a big problem. If the portion of the plug that is longer is the ceramic portion that sticks out of the engine then I would be less concerned.

@DIYNorth
@DIYNorth 2 жыл бұрын
The OEM plugs have a change interval of 120000 miles or 192000 km. I'm at about 220000 km, so I've gone well past the recommended change interval period. Other than that they seemed to still work fine.

I obviously went just as far on my plugs as you did, I had a plug fail on me once and it was pretty bad. The plug detonated in the cylinder and it sounded like rocks banging around in a tin can. It was an expensive repair. If you go to my main site page and look at the banner picture you can see a cylinder head. the center cylinder head looks very mashed up and the ones on either side look fine. That is what happens inside your cylinder when a plug catastrophically fails.
