There are actually 4 different engines offered on the 2012 Volkswagen Passat. A base 2.5 liter engine, a turbocharged 2.0 liter engine, a turbo-diesel 2.0 liter engine, and the 3.6 VR6 engine found here on the SEL trim. This motor is a 3.6 liter V-6 engine that pushed out 280 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of torque. The 6-speed automatic transmission features paddle shifters located behind the steering wheel. Fuel economy for the Passat SEL is 20 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway.
On the inside the Passat has more than enough room for 5 passengers. This car fits into the mid-sized segment but it seems there is plenty of space for not only the passengers up front but for those in the rear of the vehicle. The materials and wood trim make you feel like you are in a premium luxury car. The 2012 Volkswagen Passat comes with Bluetooth technology, there is a Premium Fender Audio System available, and touch screen navigation is also an feature that can be added on. The SEL model comes standard with all of this.
