Great Review, I am seriously considering a Tiguan and was pleasantly surprised to see that you had reviewed it. My question to you is simple, should I buy a midlevel (SEL 4motion) Tiguan, or a base (and I do mean BASE) Audi Q5? Same platform, same engine (different transmission). Is the better styling, luxury (and nameplate) of the Q5 worth giving up navigation and sunroof and an extra $5-6K?

hello, i just bought my vw tiguan 2012 se with sunroof and nav car i just have few question. TSI print on the back--> is the I in red? mine is not red Also, I know that DRL light is on for every VW cars when the headlight is not running. But in the odometer, the DRL green light is not on eventhought the headlight is not on? is it normal? or is there a problem with the car?

No the I does not have to be in red :) Also about the lighting issue you were talking about this is NOT a problem. What this means is that your headlights are set on auto, so they might not be on during the day with sunshine however when night comes they will turn on by themselves. Don't worry your car is built by the best people in the business, Germans. They would never let a car leave the factory without it being 110% ok :D Enjoy it and drive it like it was meant to be driven!

Sorry to hear about the 6-speed auto. I drove a jetta five-banger with the transmission a few years ago and thought it was great. Other than that I think I would take this over any other vehicle in this segment because of the VW driving dynamics--something the Japanese and Korean manufacturers just can't duplicate. By they way I think there are more 12 Volt outlets that the reviewer isn't aware of--maybe 4 total.

The best I can tell you (people protect the locations of dirt roads - don't ask me why) is that it is north of Malvern in PA near a river.

I have this same VW tiguan and I hate the 6peed auto transmission because it shifts too early to the next gear and makes a vibration. I have had bmw 525 e39 x5 3.0 e53 Nissan altima 3.5 se toyota solara v4 se accord v4 lexus RX300 lexus gs 300 toyota 4runner and toyota echo acura cl. Subaru Forester sx. But this one has the worst feel the worst trany of all !
