this monastary has to be one of Japan most beautiful , the energy and beauty is so amazing and inspiring and I am so glad the Japanese people have protect, preserve and maintain this temple so well, can't wait to visit Japan and see it again and again and again. unlike china and many buddhist countries Japan is so fortunate that these national buddhist treasures are still in this original temples and so well maintained and preserve. seeing this videos of the buddha statues send chills up my spine.

Sanjusangendo means: the Hall pf Thirty Three Forms. The Gonzon, the main deity of this temple hall is Kannon, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, whom has 33 dofferent forms to help all beings to find enlightenment
The Buddhist statues of the Kei school that flourished in the Kamakura period in Japan are truly amazing. Although works in various fields of Japanese traditional culture continued to develop until the Meiji period in the 19th century, it is peculiar that Buddhist statues gradually declined after the 14 century, which may be related to the fact that people gradually became secular.

The secularization of people may be related to the propagation of the Jodo sect after the Kamakura period. In the Jodo sect and the Jodo Shinshu sect, which are the largest sects of Japanese Buddhism, there were no strict religious precepts other than reciting simple nenbutsu, and even the founders and high-ranking monks had wives.
