When you go to a parking lot in any place, or you take a look to the public road, you will find hundreds of BMW´s, Mercedes and Audi´s, german cars are everywhere, no originality, no soul. But, how many Maserati´s will you find? If you have one, yours will be the only one, this alone makes it special, you´re not one of the herd, you have special taste, you are original, Maserati is more exclusive, and that makes all the diference.

The diesel one sounds so good to be a diesel engine.. And it has 600nm of torque!!

Great review of the Ghibli - I bought one in Bianco White, Skyhook, 20" Wheels, looks superb and the V6 diesel is great with superb pulling power. I previously owned a Mercedes CLS shooting brake - great car but the Maserati Ghibli is so much more Special, real sense of occasion and has beautiful Italian styling - way ahead of the Germans!

Why cant all 6 cylinder engines sound that good!?

I'd buy it, more exclusive than a BMW ,merc and Audi.

I've been watching the progress to launch of this car and am happy to see that Harry decided to test the base V6. It makes me want the car even more to know that the engine was co-developed in Maranello. I'm a huge BMW fan and am having coping issues because the sound of that V6 is rather captivating! I also like the design... Very Italian chic

I own this car (S Q4 petrol). It is absolutely fantastic, sound, acceleration, comfy enough and very good on corners. Though, soon changing for an Aston Martin Rapide. There is also a great review of that by this guy, excellent one.

i too have been excited to see this car, and i must say, i like it a lot. the only things i saw that i didn't like where the pedals, wheels, and that groove in the middle of the wheel (8:37), which can easily be changed. and the sound of that petrol v6 is like no other. i think i love it!!

the awesome thing about maserati is they have the gt then the quattroporte which is a four door supercar. i love how they didn't stick to conventional supercars and went with the untraditional style. but at the same time it works so well for the brand as the qp has been the flagship since 63 and its still a stylish 4 door supercar that you can use everyday and thats awesome. but now with the ghibli they're starting to build exec cars which makes me happy as it shows theres a market for the italian non supercar and i don't mean rebadged fiats i mean proper sports saloons from alfa (the new giulia) and from maserati... as an italian this return of the italian car is exciting!

Agreed....the reason you don't see as many single turbo set-ups are like you said. It takes quite a bit of money to make them correct, because if your car is not set up or switchin from twin to single, everything fuel related has to be replaced and drivetrain, depending how much HP you are looking to put out. And then on top of that, the adjustments to get that single turbo running perfect can take awhile too but I agree, when you can get a really good single turbo setup, they can haul ass.

They made a twin scroll single turbo and it's used on 335's but not all, it depends on the year. It's basically a single turbo but they found a way to optimize the single turbo to produce the same or similar effects of a twin turbo. When you have one turbo, you run into lag issues because the RPM that the boost is highest is not present at low RPM's, so it's better to have two smaller turbo's running the same total boost so that whenever you press the gas, it's instant.

Great review. Base engine seems to deliver that amount of chill one expects from a true Maserati, contrary to the oil burner, totally out of place. Regardless of cold numbers, subjective feeling at the wheel is what counts and thanks to the bi-turbo surge this entry-level petrol V6 is a gem in terms of pricing as well.

Greetings from Canada. I am amazed how much switchgear on the Ghibli is the same as that installed on my 2011 Dodge Charger. The newer Chargers use the same ZF 8speed as well.

Really impressed with the Maserati interior. Their interior were always a 2-3 years behind current technology IMO and they seemed to have caught up now.

The back looks like the Acura ILX. I think it's a good idea for luxury manufacturers to try to dip in on the midsize/compact car market and for economical automakers to try and introduce their takes on luxury. I love the contribution kia/hyundai have made in the luxury market and how mercedes has given the US the CLA/ A class. I see great things happening with some cross market stuff.

I believe that the 335is is actually only single turbo, it still uses the N54 engine to my understanding. I previously owned a z4 35i with a hybrid turbo and it made 500+, the thing was that car had coilovers, sways, all manner of solid bushings, control arms, really the works, and the thing is you shouldn't have to do that to get a BMW to be a great sports car, that's how it should be from the factory, (minus the 550hp of course)
