2013 Nissan Frontier Poor Heater Performance Unless On Max Heat Setting

This 2013 Nissan Frontier was brought in for poor heater performance. After replacing the engine thermostat I noted that the Dual Zone Automatic AC system seemed like it would only blow heat if set on 32C which is 90F. I noticed the in vehicle temperature sensor seemed to be reading significantly hotter than actual temperature. Turns out there is a circulation fan in the in vehicle temperature sensor and its not working.

Thanks for posting this. 2015 doing the same thing and swapped the little sensor and all is good again. Thank you sir.

THANK YOU! This is exactly what mine was doing. I pulled the sensor, and sure enough, the fan was frozen. I freed it up and reinstalled it and it’s been working for a month. But I ordered one because I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before it freezes up again. The Nissan dealer wanted 250.00 Just to get out of the gate. Takes ten minutes to replace. New sensor on EBay was 50.00

The local dealer here looked at this truck several times while under warranty and never fixed it. Customer had lived with the problem all these years until he asked me to change the thermostat hoping that was the problem. Works great now. Funny how their diagnosis procedure does not mention to check air flow through the sensor. GM does.

Perhaps I missed it but what part is this I need to order. I am having the same issue. When I look up “in vehicle sensor” I can’t find it.

As far as I know it's only available from Nissan. Part number is 7NFH-19C734-AA. Check with the dealer.

I had a nissan frontier 2019 pro 4*4 and only blows hot air on passenger side and the seats stop heating too any idea?

If its dual zone AC I would think that a temperature door actuator is at fault. If its not a dual zone likely half of the heater core is plugged. The heated seat problem is not likely related. Start by checking fuses.
