I have to agree with you. My friend has a 2012 Sportsman 850 XP, and the thing constantly has power-steering issues, over heating issues (clogged radiator), the winch doesn't work anymore, and the headlight burned the light housing. On the other hand, my 2012 Honda Rancher works just fine. My dads old 1994 Honda 300 4x4 was drowned 3 times and fired up each time without problems. The damn thing has mud water in the real axle case and ran just fine.

Seen one at a dealer.... The brake lines are just hanging about 1.5 inches blow the rear a-arms..... If you go over a log your screwed

I have driven several regular sportsmans and the 850 xp both with and without power steering. Through the woods on twisty trails they push every corner and have a lot of body roll. Any japanese machine i have ridden on the same trails handled much better ( honda yamaha kawasaki). As for tough what is your basis? Reliability? Polaris doesn't cut it, we pulled the 850 and 500 HO out of the woods so many times it was no longer amusing.

I cant see spending 1-2K more over a regular sporty if the only difference is the LE with fox sox and the loss of fenders.

Your friends bought Polaris because you told them it was good, often this is area and group bias as well. Where i live and ride there isnt a bias, everybody rides everything, most commonly Suzuki's Kawasaki's and Can-am's, Even the the Brute Force handles better than a Polaris, and its the most top heavy of the Japanese bunch. I could lose you on a logging road with my zuki 450 and no sway bar. Plus Polaris has heat and chasis problems, its all well known man.

How can i take your rebuttal seriously? I think the words you meant to use were know and though. According to many reports and warranty claims Polaris is not a very reliable brand. I have owned a couple and so have my friends and not one of us has had one that was any good.

I could hustle a 250 or 300 japanese machine faster through the woods than you could on any polaris sportsman. Wal-mart sells a lot of crap too, doesn't mean it is the best.
