I have a golf 1.9 desel a good car but Booth space a bit small and road tax in ireland is very expensive as your horsepower is high .thinking very much of getting an Octavia skoda . As the booth is hugh and a i.6 desel from 2012 would be very economical for me to run. Hope fully can pic up a good skoda Octavia here in the republic of ireland. Say a prayer for me i will get the right one.

We don't buy diesel just for the fuel economy, we buy it for it's longer life, and generaly better reliability. All that makes the diesel a best seller, every time.

Me too, may be boring to drive like it says, but I don't need a F1, need a daily practical vehicle with big space inside and in the boots, and economic fuel engine consume

I prefer your old style reviews with the car in a white room, out on test track and a slalom of cones. Latest reviews are a bit dull IMHO.

"Octavia is a cheap car" at £17k I think not!

Well, the Octavia entry-model costs about £16k which is 1k less than the entry-level VW Golf estate which does cost £17k. It may not be dirt-cheap. But it is a cheaper alternative to a golf (and it's based on the same platform and technology).

For a new car, and loads of equipment, it's pretty cheap if you compare it to other cars in its class..
