This is still as fresh and beautiful today as it was in 2013, when Andrea was just 18. The CD is a delight from beginning to end. Truly a Sophisticated Lady!

For me this is far and away the best ever performance of this jazz standard ... Andrea's sweet but sad vocals, Joan's lyrical sax, and the sextet and orchestra backing them up with a complex but perfect arrangement. That closing chord sequence and the hold of the final note for a last gentle solo is just sublime. Absolutely top class as always - thank you Joan for giving joy to so many across the world through music.

Desde lejos ; los admiro a todos , los conoci hace como 6 años y me aompañan todos los dias a partir de kas 21 hrs.Pero, pienso que Andrea Motis es lo contrario ;a sofisticada y me alegra, :su sencillez y candor ., sus zapatillas y jeans etc y justamente en su interprrtacion me falta la frivolidad., pero es solo una interpretacion personal mia y de ella en su interprdtación musical.

Essa sinfônica é maravilhosa. Seus arranjos são arrasadores. Moldura perfeita para Andrea, que canta com emoção e sensibilidade um clássico. Nem parecia que tinha 18 anos. Nasceu para cantar, nasceu para a música. Acredito que quando ela fala deve sair notas musicais de sua boca. Simplesmente divina!!!! Destaque também para Chamorro e seu solo lindíssimo. Parece que já nasceu com o sax. Um grande saxofon

I just noticed that her singing reminds me of Billie Holiday. I think it’s the time. No big huge voice or anything, but something that just makes it exactly right. I love it. It would be interesting to know if she listened to Billie Holiday a lot.

@@robertvanruyssevelt7159 And then I just saw part of their jam session today and she sang "Them There Eyes," which I associate also with Billie Holiday. Too bad I think you have to be young and very talented, and perhaps speak Spanish, to be Mr. Chamoro's student. I'm a 63 year old beginner to intermediate student of jazz piano, with not zero talent, but nothing like the kids he uncovers. By the way, do you know how to pronounce his first name? Is it like the Juan that one hears in Mexican Spanish? In English I'd write that as Hwan.

All the kids in the SAJB know the history of jazz and listen to what went before, it's all part of their culture.

@@ferreiraronald7873 what a great organization. It reminds me of when I was in my late teens / early 20’s, one night a week I would go to a small club in Boston and listen to Jaki Byard lead a band of students from the New England Conservatory of Music. One older guy and 10 - 20 students.
