You were 1000% right in this video and it aged well. The hybrid buyers made off with a robbery!! Only $2300 MORE for the hybrid but they saves literally THOUSANDS of dollars over the life of the vehicle.

My sense is that people will get MUCH better than 37mpg, as most people don't drive the way testers do. Though very pricey, it's a nice choice in the full size car market. If you do a lot of driving, you should consider this one even more.

I must say I disagree with the ride being too firm. Everyone has an opinion and I enjoyed the ride of the Avalon. I think it's the fact that it is a different ride from what people are used to in an Avalon. It does not ride like Lincoln, it drives more connected with the road. What do you think?

Thanks for the career summary! But I am still working away for Yahoo! Autos. All the videos you see here can be seen there and then some!

Dear Steve, Will you be doing a review for the new 2014 Chevrolet Impala?

I commented on dash layouts. Nissan has one of the best center stacks in the business. Acuras tech package is near perfection with audio / GPS functionality. Nothing about a FWD hybrid Avalon is going to catch the attention of younger buyers. And honestly it was never intended to. That isn't the demographic Toyota designed the car for. Toyota's own press release for this car opens with "Aimed at younger baby boomers ages 40 to 60"

Hey Steve, if it were your money, would you have the new Range Rover Sport or the new BMW X5?

I'd have to agree with this. Their target audience must be 50+ for this car. There isn't anything here that is desirable for a younger audience. Even the dash layout looks uninspiring compared to say nissan or honda/acura. Not to say it's a bad car and it will probably do pretty well with an older crowd.

the x5 was once based on the range rover

Uhh no. It never was based on any components of the RR. The 4.4 bmw was a different v8 from the X5 models.

Well considering I own a 2013 Infiniti G37, I believe your argument is invalid.

You couldn't afford one under any circumstance, so I guess it's all a moot point.

Steve Hammes has gone through quite a change in websites for the past few years. First, he was on MyRide.com, then Yahoo Autos, and now he has his OWN website. As for the car itself, I agree with Steve that it's not a big enough jump from the Camry. And, personally, I prefer the previous-gen Avalon, which WAS a big jump from the Camry.

this car is a joke..just daytime running headlights, and a front end that looks like 'another' corolla. a touchscreen JUST to control the radio, change songs and to use the back up camera...oh wow, not. i never consider toyota to make luxury cars. if they make this all of their version of 'luxury' then wtf is a lexus then? this is why people shouldnt even buy a lexus because they can still get a camry body and turn everything inside luxury and say 'here is ANOTHER BRAND'. i have a 2013 Chevy Cruze LTZ that have hell of a lot more functions than this pos, and the Cruze cost $10,000 less! Leather wrap steering wheel, leather seats, Onstar, XM radio, very quiet drive, touchscreen to find gas stations, movie theater, and to have different places uploaded to the screen when contacting Onstar. heated front seats, and much more. When you buy a Japanese brand, your just buying a car frame with a/c and a radio with four wheels. if you dont buy a GM car then your seriously missing out with all the tech that is standard than buying just another Japanese brand...get real people!
