Did it correct the problem? My mechanic is saying it's going to cost me roughly $300+ to fix mine, but if it's this simple I'll do it myself!!!

In my case it actually worked for a minute but stopped again. I just unplugged the harness. It has to do with the car being in park and it's not reading to the sensors properly so it wouldn't disengage.

Though a symptom, the key lock solenoid was not the root cause for this key stuck in ignition problem. It was actually a sticky shift-release button on the gear shifter. It was not reliably engaging the switch that tells the key lock solenoid to disengage to let you finish turning the key to the off-position and pull it out of the ignition. Camaro Phil - Wow! Thank you so much for this!! I would comment on your video, but comments are off. Big Bro hug from me.. lubing the shifter was my issue and it was driving me crazy.

Pretty sure this is my exact problem. I have to restart the car in order to get the key out, some times, it's when I just shut it off and then sometimes 3x before the key actually comes out. I tried the first solution with WD 40 on the stick shift release.

@@investerchris1441 it did not, it's the component under the steering wheel. When it first happened to me I think I was to rough with the key to get it to come out. It's annoying, but being more gentle can eventually get it out. Looks like you just need to remove the component, but then your key can be taken out of the hole, not sure what happens if on.

Yes. It's just part of the security on the car to make sure it's in park before you take the key out.

What did you use to remove the part

A phillips head screwdriver and a torx screwdriver. I don't remember the size of the torx one though.

I think the screws where a 7mm socket actually if I remember right.
