Man, I have a 2017 Malibu. In the video he had a Malibu that actually had to have a key in the ignition. I was wondering if it was going to work for my push button Malibu. And man, it worked absolutely great. Car off with the door open for 5 minutes, shut the door for 5 minutes then hit the push button. It did the trick for me, it should do the trick for you.

I'm currently in a rental car and this happened to me!! Omg!! I was like oh my what did I do or what did my kids touch but this method actually does work!! Five minutes with door open and then close door without keys and then insert them and Chevy logo displays!! Thanks!!

Sorry everyone, I lost this account and got it back. I know the video is 11 years old. But I don’t know the answer to additional questions about other lights. This was a rental car at the time and I didn’t want to return it with a black screen. In the owners manual there is a 1-800 number to Chevy and they gave me those instructions. Glad it worked out for most!

I have a push to start button An it worked ( car off door open for 5 mins then closed for 5 mins) hit the push button n it worked. (Sat in car whole time)

I had a stuck CD in my 2014 Impala. Here's how I fixed it. There are two fuse boxes. One under the hood that we will not access and one in back of the pop-out drawer/compartment on the lower left side of the steering wheel that we will access. Remove the key from the ignition. Remove the pop-out drawer by pushing in on the tabs on both sides of the drawer to see the fuse box. Look at the fuse diagram in the owners manual and on the drawer back. Remove the radio fuse. Mine was #4. Put the key in accessory and notice the radio has no power. Remove the key. Put the fuse back in the fuse box. Put the key in accessory and notice the radio has power. Now try the CD eject button and it should eject the CD if the problem is like what I had.

I have a2016 Impala with an after market radio, it will occasionally knock out all sound. Bluetooth,radio,etc. I'm gonna try this next time to see if it works as well. Thanks!

Ok so my problem is the complete opposite... my DASH is completely black with no movement of anything there... so basically im wondering is this a costly process or maybe a blown fuse or bad battery ? ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Screen will come back on after a certain amount of time with any activity. try opening the trunk instead of the door. Mine always come back on after a couple of on off cycles waiting 5 or ten minutes between each.

My 2015 LTZ2 screen is still on. It's my sound that went out. No turn signal sound no radio sound no rear view cam collision warning sound no radio no lane crossing warning sound no nuffin....still under warranty but I'm hoping this may work

Hey I’m dealing with the same problem But I was driving and noticed my the screen was black I tried everything from the door opening clicking the SOS button from only thing I haven’t tried was disconnecting my battery I don’t have the tools to do so but my screen still hasn’t came back on and my car says “No Audio” on the dash also

The door thing didnt work for me either in my 2016 Impala, also disconnected the battery, still nothing. I checked the fuses on the accessories fuse box on the inside passenger side next to your left knee, reseated the Radio and Radio/HMI Display (fuse #4 and #5), this did cause my Radio and display to come back on but only when the ignition switch was positioned to allow accessories to run, starting the vehicle caused the radio/display to go out again. What ended up fixing my problem was going under the glove box on the passenger side by using a 7mm socket wrench and removing the 2 screws that cover everything up down there, I carefully removed that, and there are several wire harnesses on the right side there all dealing with the display. I did remove and reseat all of them, but one small grey one with about 6 wires in it, ultimately caused the unit to start working while the engine was actually started. When I tried replacing the cover while the vehicle was running, the radio did cut out again, so sadly I had to leave the cover off just to keep the radio working properly. I suspect there is some sort of issue with a ground or something, I just didnt feel like getting the parts to redo the wiring as the radio seems to be working fine now. I also find it odd that this seems to be a continuing problem spanning several years of the same model vehicle, and GM doesnt directly address the issue.

+Brittany Andrews Yes I did. A couple of times. Tried with the remote in the car, and outside of the car. Even tried for longer. I called the dealership and asked if they know about this "hard reset' and they pretty much laughed at me.

@@Vijion exactly it. They laughed and said they never heard of a hard reset and told me not to believe everything on the internet. My screen is black yet today.
