2014 Chevy Malibu Spark Plug Change

Күн бұрынUpdate 4/8/19: I emailed NGK, with their plugs they said 14 FOOTPOUNDS of torque.
This was shot with the camcorder.
This is how you change the spark plugs in 2014 maibu. Highly recommend a spark plug starting tool, due to the fact of the depths of the holes for the plugs.

Cheap, but l don't think they need to be the top of the line. l bought a 3 pack at autozone, but the one l have is not on the website. These are decent.

I appreciate the vid for these newer model Malibu's. Not many diy videos out there. Chevy wants the shops to make all the money off of us.

Not just Chevy, all manufacturers want you to go to shops and get stuff done, like on some makes and models (ford specifically) you have to remove a huge panel under the car to do a simple oil change. A 15-20 minute oil change now takes about 30-45 minutes because of the at least 15 torx screw they have. Getting stupid.

I finally fixed it tonight after I got home from work there was 3 bolts on the intake that were loose. Unreal thank you for your help!

I had the same problem! It’s actually common! But it can cause a shit Tom of problems if you leave it be

Samuel Darko honestly. Search a cobalt or that specific vehicle. I only perform work mainly on the vehicles in my family. Should be very similar

lf l am not mistaken, it should have 4 or so bolts on top of the engine, and perhaps a wire on the right side (driver as you are looking at the car from the front). send a pic!

I keep getting a code for the mass airflow sensor. I replaced it but the light came back on. I shot some seafoam in the air and the light went off temporarily but came back on

Check the bolts on your intake manifold

Someone told me if you have a turbo that you need to change the gap. Has anybody else heard that?

Don't forget . If you change your spark plugs, change your PCV. Valves On my 2015 2.5 I have 2 PCV Valves. . . You must change these or your car may need a new head gasket or worse.. I noticed a different sound on acceleration. Can't explain it. Just knew something was not right when accelerating. I changed mine at 70, 000 miles. Should change them at 50,000 to be safe. $20 is better than $200 gasket job. Just a heads up to those who are DIY people

What's the gap specification? People don't ask that. Isn't that important to avoid Misfires?

Ezeoma ILO yes. It’s important. As for the gap, each manufacturer recommends different gaps. Usually posted somewhere in the engine bay, or service manual.

Twist red caps?? You can actually bypass popping the clips!

Are you talking about the red clip things for the coil packs? They just push back

Usually it’s easier to remove the clips so you don’t have to worry about breaking anything off the coil packs. These as in the video just push back with a screw driver.

You might just want to disconnect the ground cable from battery working on your car
