This is was first time for me, figuring it out on camera, sorry about the angles and lighting, forgot sometimes l was making the video.

My question is I just got that code but my symptom is I can’t floor it i hafta ease into the throttle and got engine power reduced did you have any of them symptoms ?

I never had any problems. I pretty much got luck with the “parts cannon”. It threw the code i googled it, that’s what the problem was, ordered the part, made this video and that was the end of it for my car. However, if you go to the “pinned” comment in this video, I just made a video a few days ago about GM. Might want to watch it.

Has anyone had an oil leak from this component? I have a leak somewhere and it's originating from the top rear of the engine, looks like its right under this part.

Thanks, changed the intake and exhaust solenoids like the dealer told me and now I'm going to change this part. Car isnt acting up though, just throwing the code p16cf.

Anthony Williams when I did this and got the part i found it on rockauto.com however, the last person needed the part I searched, I couldn’t find it. I don’t know why the sudden lack of part. Maybe look on dormans website and search by number.

I changed mine in my 2015 Impala 2.5 and mechanic suggested an engine flush and better oil. I’ve heard so many opinions about Pennzoil that were bad and every mechanic recommend Valvoline or Mobile oil.

I have never had an issue with pennzoil. But over valvoline or mobile I’d use mobile.

Deshawn Real I honestly think it’s the way people maintain their vehicles. I change my oil every 3k or so. Even though I know I can go longer I use full synthetic.

I use dexos full synthetic I just got an oil change and it started jerking while accelerating randomly but no engine light

I have a question but first thank you for the video. I changed the part engine light turned off . Still off after a few months but when I start over the car it makes a rattling noise just as I turn on the engine then it's quiet the noise seems to come from the front of the engine have any idea what it could be. Engine light is still off . Also car stutters when auto start and stop stops at a red light then when I leg go if the brake and push the gas it stutters and won't start I have to put on park then turn in sometimes I have to wait 4 min to turn on please help me thank you

Has any work been done? Rattling noise maybe heat shield on exhaust. As for the hesitation or studdering could be a vacuum leak, bad fuel, dirty air filter. I wish I could hear and see what the car is doing? Can you upload a video and link it?

Did yours stutter and shake around 1500 RPM? I replaced intake and exhaust solenoids on mine, CeL keeps coming on and then it turns off only to come back ok.

I don’t remember. I mainly just changed it because of the code. Also did a google search and it’s a super common failure.

@@Rickm2003 mine is throwing p2646 which is the solenoid, replaced it and it still says that is the issue. I'm at a loss not sure what the problem is anymore.

ionut alex did you clear the code? If you don’t have a scanner tool you can disconnect the battery for about 30 seconds. I did a look. Try changing oil.

@@Rickm2003 i will disconnect the battery, i will also clean the throttle body,ive seen posts about it getting dirty and sticking which can cause some of the issues.

Question new bolts have black peace do they stay on bolt while tighten or do u remove them

They stay in their spot. The new part comes with new bolts. I believe their held in with some sort of lock washer. Couldn’t get the camera back there to see also, didn’t have enough room.

Not trying to jinx you, but if it came on for that and you reset it, until the part is replaced, it’ll probably come back on. I am 99% sure it did for me, I reset it about 5 times until I decided to swap it.

Rick M im go good with cars , but a code marking p2645 a rocker arm actuator control circuit open bank 1 , i cant find anything online but this and it dont show the code my check engine light was goon off and on , and sometimes my car now lags.

Lucas Kids that was the same code I had. After I swapped the part I have not had it come back. Also, from what I gather this problem is super common. I would also highly advise you to get a torque wrench and use to tighten the bolt. Don’t want to screw threads in that area. I could not see the holes, it was all by feel like in the video.

Apologies. I don’t remember the exact code, but it was something do with the vvt solenoid or oil engine something. I googled it. Pretty sure it was the same code I had. P2645. I no longer have the car, not because of this, but I hope this was helpful. Maybe call your local dealer. This is such a known issue, I THINK GM, issued a recall for this. Can’t hurt to call. I never had any issues with transmission. This was strictly a parts cannon guess and worked out. I had the car for a year or so after I installed the part, I got rid of it, but at the time there was nothing wrong. Just wanted a bigger car.

I found the new GM valve that replaced the original brand new from the dealer. They sold it to me without a seal. Can I re use the seal off my old valve?

David Galvan so far so good. Engine light has NOT come back on. I will say usually when you have an electronic code, and you replace the part that’s bad usually the light goes off by itself. Maybe I was impatient and didn’t give it enough time, but I had to use my code reader to reset the code. However, if you do not have one you and simply disconnect the part for a minute and that will clear it also.

I googled the code. First video came up is the code in the title. The channel is new level auto, he’s a mobile diagnostic technician. Very good. Eric from south main auto calls him when he gets stumped.

One of the two circular pieces on top of the part in my 2014 malibu some how blew off and spilled all the oil alover the engine made a mess / left me stranded. Any one know why this happened?

I honestly don’t remember. It was something to do with that specific solenoid. Oil control or something along those lines. As of June of 2021, the car has been traded in, and the part I put on was still working as it should. I’ve since gotten a Chevy impala (2016). Search south main auto Chevy Malibu oil control solenoid. Thats where I got my plan of attack from. Thanks for the comment!

Rick M swapped out intake and exhaust solenoids it cleared both A and B codes but then threw me the p16cf now is this the next step?

Brian Puyol you cleared the code and it threw it again? What brand of part did you get? Could be a defective part unless something else is wrong with the car.
