I'm really glad it helped. If I may ask, what was the faulty part...the buttons themselves, the turn signal unit, the connections coming undone, etc?

The back side buttons. All of them - volume, station scrolling,... forgot what is on the left side of the wheel (on the back) as I never used them... The volume is the most important, obviously. I got the car when it was 3 years old, and the volume buttons worked intermittently back then. Soon after all the buttons stopped working. Interestingly, the gear shift paddles worked fine... The paddle is a component of the replacement button "module" and is controlled by the same PCB... So, thanks to you, I have a properly working steering wheel now! @@wilmonger1

Best guess would be that either one of the connectors has come loose. Another possibility is that the clockspring is bad. They are notoriously delicate.

It is one piece. If you are purchasing a new one, beware that as I recall there are several different models depending on what options your car has. I believe there are 4 different ones...with and without heated steering wheel, and with and without power tilt.

The shitty thing is that many cars, even Dodge cars have 2 piece signal housings. If the Durangos had a 2 piece housing you wouldn't need to take all this stuff off. No idea why they did it this way

The biggest socket wrench or breaker bar you can find, and someone really strong holding the wheel in place. Its super, super tight the first time you remove it. You can try some penetrating oil or WD40 to help loosen it first

If none of the steering wheel buttons work, nor the horn, then my best guess is that it is the multi-wire clock spring that is part of the turn signal unit See around 20:30 of the video). These are notorious for going out. I am not aware of any way to repair it without buying the whole piece, but there may be a way. The clock spring is basically a long wire that is coiled around the center, which has all of the controls' feeder wires rolled into one. When you turn the wheel in either direction the wire can coil or uncoil as the wheel turns. With so much movement they just eventually weaken and snap. I found eBay to be the cheapest place to get one, but they are available there. Again, just my best guess but it is very likely the culprit. If you do it, make sure to get the correct turn signal switch as there are 4 different ones depending on your car's options.

It is likely the same as this video, though the 2013 is a slightly different model. My best guess is that you will need to just remove the steering wheel.

You do not need to remove all of this to get to the rear wheel radio controls. Watch the video around the 19 minute mark and you will see the small plastic cover that you need to pop off to get to the bolt that holds those controls on. Obviously its easier to access them with the wheel off, but I believe you can likely do it without removing the wheel.

Was the airbag light on before changing the steering wheel? Also, did you replace the airbag or use the one that was already on the car? Normally this is not something that will make the light turn on unless there is an issue with the airbag wiring. The most likely culprit would be the connections or the clockspring. The light is indicating that there is a malfunction somewhere and should turn off once the fault is fixed. Airbag codes are not usually clearable the way other codes are.
