This show is amazing. It's a freaking year old and I can't get tired of it. Everything about it I absolutely love. That guy who completely toppled over at 3:10 got up like it was nothing. I could not do that!!!

I competed with them at the BOA competition in Atlanta and let me just say that they deserved to win. This video doesn't do this band justice at all. Seeing it live was literally the coolest thing ever.

That was my favorite performance. I remember my whole band stood and cheered when tarpon springs was announced in first place. The kids in that band are really lucky to have such a large group and a large budget. At my high school were struggling to get enough support to even play at football games. Our budget is a few thousand dollars.

Servals The secret is in the fund raising.
@servals23849 жыл бұрын
Anonymousconcept The problem is, no matter how many carwashes, cookie sales, etc. we do, we have very few in our band program to begin with, and where I live, football is everything. Nobody even knows what marching band is.

Welcome to American Marching bands where you get all the victories, dedication and support from all around as long as you have a crap ton of money.

Curious Chunk As simple as I wrote it. I travel to a ton of different places and learn about a lot of different bands in Florida along with the review of the students of all these schools and from what I've seen and what they've said, the school with "More things" aka money often get the most support and the best techs while the mediocre bands are left to the side. Not speaking in a hating term, I'm proud of Tarpon for I have friends in that band but its just a painful reality that I've come to see coming from what others would call, a mediocre school band. I was at FMEA this weekend for All-State and it was amazing to see, hear and learn where all these talented musicians come from and their high school stories.
@servals23849 жыл бұрын
Not to mention people in the band. My band is full of skilled people and we get custom written by the same guy who writes for the bluecoats and other outstanding groups but we didn't even make it to semi finals because we have about 120 people and a budget of around 5,000$. We had to build our own props and fundraise like there was no tomorrow.
@Anonymousconcept9 жыл бұрын
orichic51 Don't bother taking hard work into account then, asshat.
@orichic519 жыл бұрын
Anonymousconcept Obviously you need hard work but that only gets you so far in these days of marching band. You need certain props and equipment to excel even farther than the hardest work you've put in to be put on the top. That is modern Marching Band Competition these days.

All the money in this program comes from fundraising and band fees. We are not supported by the county, the students and band parents do all the hard work for this.

Tarpon Springs is not good because of how much money they have. They are good because how they practice. Like their band director said, they rehearse how they wish to perform. Tarpon springs practices every single day from the time school gets out until 10 Pm at night, at they put their all into every run through of their show. That's why they are good. It's not all about they money, that is just secondary.
@clarkbolding51618 жыл бұрын
+That Guy Who Plays Cod bell And then there's texas bands who can only practice 8 hours a week who are competing on the same level
@codesterz78 жыл бұрын
At first I thought it was all about the props too but if you watch closely everything is almost perfect. They definitely deserved 1st Place last year! See you at Super Regionals in Atlanta this weekend!
@evanschwepker91278 жыл бұрын

Can someone tell me what the fucl is in the water on Tarpon springs, broken arrow, Avon etc? How the fuck are they so good? like damn! I wish Texas would get rid of that 8 hour rule so we could practice and be better
@florida_railfan_production31148 жыл бұрын
Actually here in tarpon we only practice about 4 hours on school days and then 12 hours (9am-9pm) on Saturdays.
@torrentXofXdarkness8 жыл бұрын
mondern shadic Das still a lot. Here in my school we only practice an hour and thirty minutes 5 days a week(counting sectionals which are about the same length as rehearsals) and nothing on weekends, excluding competitions and such. No wonder why you guys are so good
@maggieward39468 жыл бұрын
+Mermaid Motel (I'm from Broken Arrow) We usually start rehearsal in late July. Eight hours a day, six days a week until school starts. After school starts, it's usually three and a half (it varies on what day it is) every day except wednesday and sunday. Saturdays are sometimes eight hours, sometimes we have a competition.
@AttackFruit8 жыл бұрын
+Mermaid Motel Coming from a tarpon alumni, we would practice about 4 hours after school, 2 during school on the feild, always in translation there would be some of us practicing, and 10am-9pm on saturdays

If bands dumped as much money as they did, there would be a lot of less mediocre HS marching bands.
@rosebugey73047 жыл бұрын
These aren't even marching bands anymore. More like theatrical productions and bands who don't have the funds for huge props but have the talent are screwed.
