Yeah man, the lower control arm was our biggest hangup. It was a pain to get out and a pain to get back in. Definitely the hardest part of the job

It’s completely identical. What makes you think it’s any different. The only thing different about a 2014 Ford escape and a 2017 Ford escape is a little bit of rear end tail light difference and a front facia change. The suspension and axles from 2012 to 2019 are identical

Both of mine were diagnosed as faulty. I could hear both side make clicking sounds when I turned the stearing wheel. The mechanic showed me by jacking up. Removing the tires and pulling in and out from the transmission case on the CC axle. They were both making this metal on metal clicking sound. I just replaced the passenger following this method and I no longer hear the clicking sound.

As far as I know, yes. I'm about to attempt the driver side after just finishing the passenger following this video. I didn't replace the seals though as they weren't leaking

The clip at the end of the cv where the splines are split that goes into the tranny. I am having a hard time with this exact issue your video does not help at all

I'm looking at the bent up ball joint clip. I don't understand why it's there or how to remove it to spread the pinch joint. Guess I'll have to tear mine up too. Not much info on the net what's the deal?

Hello, that’s actually a really good question. To answer your question: yes, CV Axle and CV joint are the same thing when talking about the part itself. CV joint is part of the CV Axle which usually has 2 CV joints, but some people refer to it as CV joint, meaning CV Axle. So here sounds like your CV joint is going bad in you CV Axle, so you need to replace the whole CV Axle because the CV joint in it is bad. I hope this makes sense, nerdy answer I know, lol. So to make sure here is how to test for it: press on gas pedal and accelerate, if clicking noise goes up, then release gas pedal and just cruise at neutral and if clicking noise goes down or dissapears, that is definitely a CV axle problem. CV Axle is also know as CV half Shaft, or CV driveshaft. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

@@fixit3879 I think that's my issue, the nouse would get louder along with some shaking on the passenger side,when I let it cruise the shaking and noise would stop

Yep it was the CV axle on the passenger side, it finally went completely out and I replaced it.once it goes it will stop moving.

@@jsmith9573 yea it's most likely your axle, on mines it was the one on the passenger side, if you have the same symptom mines had then yes get it checked and find out which one is bad.

An Escape is really just a Focus with a larger body. Most of the drivetrain is identical.
