He's a legend, it's sad that not many people know him, not only his fighting style was incredible, but he was very tough as well, all his opponents were way taller than him(he's only 5ft 7in) in 3 divisions, light-heavy, cruiser and heavyweight.

He's aged really well, Qawi was like the light heavyweight version of Joe Frazier.

He's an inspiration for all the shorties out there.

Loved this guy way back when he was known as Dwight Braxton. At his best, he was one of the very best light heavyweights of all time. Great to seem his in such great shape physically and mentally. His jab was freaky for such a short guy.

This man fought in an era of very tough fighters and was right at the top. An extremely tough fighter, glad to see a big smile on his face.

Noticed how clear-headed and how well he speaks. He doesn't seem to have taken much damage from boxing. So not all fighters are brain dead after their careers.

Dwight Muhammad Qawi, was a tough Guy!!

Qawi had tons of losses in his career. He was a stepping block for all-time greats such as Spinks and Holyfield. He was very short and had a crude fighting style. So Qawi must not have been very good, right? WRONG! This man was a destroyer, the 175 version of Tyson/Liston. Fighters were terrified of him. Sergey Kovalev has nowhere near the intimidation factor that Qawi fielded. He decimated Matthew Saad and Leon Spinks, and could have reigned much longer had he not met Michael Spinks. Hell, Spinks's reputation (and Holyfield's too, at least early in his career) largely came from his win over Qawi. Bottom line, the Camden Buzzsaw is a legend. No one but a truly great tactician (with a good chin!) could hope to beat a prime Qawi. And did I mention that Qawi started fighting when was 25?! And with no amateur experience whatsoever? Wow...

He's 5ft 6, a natural cruiserweight, started boxing at 25, and went 7 rounds with George Foreman on 2 weeks notice. Beast.

The great Buzzsaw gave me my first boxing lesson as a kid, he bought about 5 of us kids Pizza in the school yard of HC Sharp school in Camden nj. He was a positive influence in the neighborhood of hard work and being positive. If he sees this thanks I’ll never forget those times 🥊

One of my all-time favorites of all time if all sports. A great boxer/tactician, a field general in the ring. Saw all his great fights and help me to learn how to fight. Awesome man !!!

Always liked Qawi, and it's great to see him happy and with all his mental faculties intact. He says some very true things about being hungry and tenacious, and the somewhat harmful effects of success and achievement. A paradox, perhaps. In any case, enjoy your rest, Champ.

Thanks for the memories champ...you are a living legend and one of my all time favorite boxers back when boxing was actually exciting to watch.Those days of watching you on sports world ( channel 4 in New York ) and the wide world of sports (channel 7 abc New York) are priceless...literally and figuratively as pay per view was virtually non existent ( save for the really big title matches on closed circuit tv ) you look great and sound great and you are truly a gentleman and warrior.

Qawi was very hard to hit. He could hide his chin behind his left shoulder and left elbow, preventing upper cut and straight right to his chin. Very good boxer. You can tell from the way he speak - his jaw was not messed up at all.

A bad guy in the ring, but a great guy outside of it. Glad to see that he hasn't gone down the drain like so many ex-fighters. All best wishes to you, Dwight Muhammad!

He was a great one kinda like a modern day Sam Langford. Now that would have been some fight at 175.

Gotta love him, what he did to Mathew in the first fight, the first time I ever seen him, was shocking to me. Definitely one of the all time greats. Dwight Braxton.

DMQ's first fight with Evander Holyfield is one of the best fights of all time imho.The punch output for two crusierweights was phenomenal.Total respect - this man was deceptively skillful with his slips and defence.

After as those Ring Wars, Dwight Qawi is still a mentally sharp and well spoken man! He must have been a Conditioning Workhorse - because I've seen his fights, and they were BRUTAL!! I believe that he's been working as a Counselor for years now. Stay Strong, Champ!!

Very Slick, knew how to use the Jab and those long arms made him very deceptive at that height. Great fighter he gave you the impression that he was a slugger,but this cat could box. it's rare to see a boxer bring that kind of pressure like Slugger.

I still remember his first fight against Matthew Saad Muhamad in 1981 when he won the title. I'm pretty sure it was on ABC's Wide World Of Sports on a Saturday afternoon and Saad Muhammad had been WBC champ for close to 3 years and was making his 9th defense of the title, and Braxton was an up and comer coming off wins against Rossman and Scott. I recall the announcers respected Braxton, but thought Saad Muhammad would be too much for him, and expected him to keep the title on his way to an eventual unification fight with former '76 Olympics glory team member Mike Spinks, who had just won the WBA version of the title 6 months earlier. Boy were they wrong. Braxton stalked Muhamad like a Lion, always coming forward, delivering blow after well timed blow, and took Saad Muhammad apart before finishing him in the 10th. I remember right after the fight thinking I had watched something special, and I still feel that way. I also remember a less significant moment between Braxton and Saad Muhamad the following summer. It was during a CBS fight between two other fighters, and they were on a split screen video interview the day after their rematch in Philadelphia. Braxton had absolutely destroyed Saad Muhammad in their rematch, even worse than their first fight, and solidified himself as a top champion, while Saad Muhamad's great career was essentially over (sadly, he didn't retire as he should have, and fought 19 more times, losing 11 of them). I can still remember how respectful both men were towards each other, and that Braxton was wearing a dapper looking all- white suit.

This interview caught me off guard as seeing the dude fight was like watching a pit bull go after a pork chop..He cut people down literally one shot at a time just like his nickname The Camden Buzzsaw.. A candid, personable gentleman..Glad to see he’s got his mind and spirit…
