I love how in the beginning you have the xterra in the background probably to pull the rogue out when it gets stuck

I just bought nissan rogue 2018 s model, and interior is much more improved. Also exterior is much more aggressive. I love this vehicle. Feels more premium on cheaper price tag.

Thanks for the review guys! Not that I would be taking it off road, but there are the drifty Ohio winter snows. I have a 2013 Ford Escape and have had it in the shop about 6-7 times and it has to go back again. Ford may be buying the vehicle back, and I am starting to shop on another one. This review helps.

When you get wheelspin, keep the throttle applies and the ABLS system will gradually apply more and more brakeforce to the spinning wheels and make it less of a struggle on loose traction obstacles.

don't see an issue with those buttons on the left side. Certain buttons should remain for driver control only.

I am still debating if I want awd or not for this car. I live in California, it doesn't rain much..definitely doesn't snow where I am located...but it would be nice to be able to take it up to the snow once in a while.

Could you guys explain what's the difference between the Rogue's CVT and the Forester's CVT? You both don't like CVTs in general but what made you rate the Rogue as a "buy" but the Forester a "lease?" (Looks and interior excluded--I'm only interested in thoughts about the engines). Thanks!

Could you guys explain why you prefer the Rogue's CVT to that of the Forester? Is there a significant difference? I believe you rated the Rogue a "buy" but the Forester a "lease" and in general you guys don't like CVTs.

Great review! It is not for the heavy off road and places where buttons are not great idea. I wish TOYOTA has a Harrier in the U.S. and Mazda for diesel type CX-5 to see how they will compete with Nissan and Subaru. Anyway, what I know is that Nissan gave up on diesel, which is very popular, fuel efficient and more power.

Good review guys, but is your idea of a small family really three kids? I've got three kids (+ dog) and I don't think of us as a small family. My two youngest could fit in the Rogue's 3rd row, but only for a few more years. The I'd have three across in the second row which equals trouble. With a family like mine, I'd buy the Pathfinder except that CR doesn't have much good to say about it (or Nissan in general these days) so maybe the Durango or Traverse instead. Hypothetical for all: Suppose you have three sons, all of whom will be teenagers within in the next 6 years, and want to buy something other than a minivan that you plan on keeping for the next ten years (at least), what would you buy? Or what would make your short list?

What tires was the '14 rogue wearing? Ice you drove on would have probably stopped the '14 Forester dead as its stock tires test terribly on ice (including your own snowy Forester misadventure).

This is the first time I've seen this vehicle. An all wheel drive cross over for $25,000 is awesome. It should give Subaru and the Rav-4 a run for there money. I'd like to see it in a head to head with the Rav-4.

At the end of the video with AWD lock on, the front tire starts to spin and the back tire does not. It doesnt look like the back is moving much at all. Why is this?

Of the recent affordable CUV redesigns (Forester, Rogue, Escape, Rav4) I think that the Forester and Rogue are the two most-improved. The segment has a fantastic range of choices now - the only gap yet to be filled would be a 6-Cylinder option under $30k. (We've got NA 2-2.5L and Turbo 1.6-2L, but no 3-3.6L 6-Cylinder) I think that Toyota could justify bringing it back with the Rav4 given the lack of competition here.

The Nissan rouge, a great makeup accessory to fit in with your rogue...

The array of controls on the lower left dashboard looks like it results in a lot more time with your eyes off the road than if they were high and on the right.

night and day better looking inside and out than the Rav-4 and CR-V....Nissan really stepped up its game, nice review guys. I'll take the Forester, this would be my second choice.

Very nice. I like the LED DRLs and overall smooth redesign. Out of the three Japanese giants I'd have to say this is the nicer car, then the RAV4, and in dead last the ugly CRV. But even the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and Kia Sportage are very nice as well.

So how about the outlander with it's bad ass AWD system?

Don't bother with the 3rd row. Should have just went with a multi adjustable parcel shelf like the PT Cruiser had. That rocked for Costco runs back in the day.

And when will I go to see some proof TFLC, comparative or review of any vehicle, it is, somewhere warm, NO MOUNTAIN SNOW, MIST OR COLD? where heat sweat more than tired? at sea level where the air conditioning work and no heat? BE POSSIBLE THAT??

While he was unable to reach the trunk release, and other buttons left of the steering column. The driver was also unable to reach the peddles with his feet because the seat was so far back. Personal bias gets old in some of the reviews.

I agree with Nathan they need to rearrange those buttons on the left hand side, other than that its not a bad car.

That steering wheel position and angle makes it look like you're driving a school bus with the wheel between your knees. You could use that thing as an armrest at that angle.

Nice re-style. The front grille & lights look much, much better than the re-styled Pathfinder. Nissan really needs to fix that. Only thing I'll criticize is the engine. It really begs for a Turbo. In fact, all their 4cyl engines need, no, they deserve turbo's. Boost that horsepower and torque. Bet they'd be way more fun to drive. Lets do something about that Nissan!!

Lately a lot of the Japanese car manufacturers have been making some pretty weird and funky designs that I do not find very attractive. This car on the other hand I like the look of.

looks like a mix of Toyota Vanguard in 2014 and a Nissan Patrol 2012. But I like it.

At 1:16, 8:48, & 9:49, the driver side front wheel is spinning multiple rotations yet the rear wheel on the same side is just sitting there doing nothing. AWD? Shouldn't that wheel be trying to do something? What's up with that?

Felt disappointed when Nissan listed the 2nd / 3rd row seatas had 36 inches of leg room. I was thinking finally someone made a proper 3rd row. But it turned out to be something like a dodge jouney again.

Decent entry in this segment but not the cream of the crop by any means. The new Jeep Cherokee actually rates extremely high with both critics and owners. Like significantly higher than anything in this segment.

Nissan did a good job

I build parts for these. Some of the side pillars parts are of poor quality. Pulled holes, dents, etc...

I think Nissan hit it on the Button with this one, very nice front (Who cares about its Ass) nice interior & good Engine/Transmission too. I just wished they'd add a Diesel to its engine choices as Mazda, Audi and others soon with VW.

How much sense does it make to do any kind of off-road testing on a vehicle like this that only comes with a small, temporary spare tire? Wouldn't using the spare tire be an even better test of "offroad-worthiness?" Maybe the offroad tests TFL Car does should include using whatever spare tire comes with the vehicle, say, on a front tire, which in that situation would be most likely to have issues. If the vehicle has at least one model available with a full-sized spare tire, it would be exempt. Seriously...why not? It could be another fun test, like the Nathan fitting in the back, gauntlets and such.
