This might be the most musical percussion arrangement for a show since Star '93.

IMO Jim Casella's 2004 SCV book was slightly better.

An amazing example of professional musicianship. I don't know why anyone would post something negative or start an irrelevant dialogue.

It sounded weird hearing the oper without the brass. I like it though as you can hear how good the percussion is.

Was this before IP came out with the TS-PR? Those sticks have been a favorite of mine for creative solo work.

Yes, Paul Rennick designed the TS-PRs late 2015.

can someone please look at SCV during the 70's and 80's and tell me this is as good...because to me this is high school that has really good ensemble dynamics... back in the day, there were MEATY chops and GREAT individuals... these drummers look like they barely can play anything...but practice 400 hours on the drum book, together in an ensemble, and "i can fool you"... ...Searching for Bobby Fischer"? Gee, How 'bout "Searching for Rob Carson"? Searching for Paul Stivets? Searching for Dave Dilullo? Searching for Mike French? Searching for Jeff Queen? Searching for Lee Rudnicki? Do all of you guys just ignore typing in KZfaq, DCI snare soloists from 1975 to 1987? That is the de facto standard you should shoot for...
@brianhead19078 жыл бұрын
***** Look bro, i am one the most educated snare drummers out there. Allow me to establish a little authority. Dave Dilullo taught me in my family room when i was 14. Then 2 years later, Ralph Hardimon and Glen Crosby, then next year Tom Float...15 years after that someone under the LATE GREAT Freddy Gruber....You know the guy that taught dave weckl, neil Peart, vinnie calhouta ... i am just saying i know a lot...these guys have weak chops, and the drum book is fall out from 1993 battle of visual and fast drill between Cadets and Star of Indiana... fast drill means cut time. cut time means fast 16 notes and check patterns for the triplet rolls ...practicing that fast means lowering stick heights and playing thin but clean... THIN BUT CLEAN... and ALAS DCI has a new era of NO FLAMS, thin chops, and square, no off-speed rolls or attacks, no grace notes due to the fast cut time tempo...AND NO MEATY CHOPS !!! if you are under 40 years of age, then please don't respond to my comments...if you 40 or over, then you can stake your claim !
@brianhead19078 жыл бұрын
***** Are you sure? the pit has chops. But i think you need to check writing...1984 Cadets pit was amazing. 1987 pit was amazing Catherine Float years were amazing. 1989 Cadets were great. Not to mention Cavies pits... Do me a favor...hear some notes...type "1994 Cadets drumline" by Nick Molenda...they are not the best line, but they got some meaty notes...

+brian head Cool, some drummers taught you stuff. Here's the thing: no one actually gives a shit.
@shaqloco76718 жыл бұрын
You do realize they had some of the highest stick heights in DCI 2014 right? lol

I don't hear that much of difference between blue devils bluecoats SCV or a lot of other lines. It just looks like they are trying harder.
