6 Tonys and she's only in her early 40's. She's gonna win 12 Tonys when all is said and done.

That's what I said last year. I was like, "She's only in her 40s. She's going to beat the record." Lo and behold, just a year later, she beat it! :D

It’s worth noting, this is her SIXTH tony, and she acted as sincere and graceful as if it were her first. As someone else commented, she’s so the (even more successful) Meryl Streep of Broadway

She's what Beyonce is to the grammys or Meryl Streep to the oscars. Amazing!

Tearing up. I went to the show after hearing the bootleg and instantly crying my ass off and booked the show. As a jazz singer I couldn't believe she had the courage and talent to do this show. I couldn't even tell her how much I loved it at the stage door (me and the other guy on a wednesday night) but I managed to take a picture with her. Audra's speech was perfect. I'm so glad Lena Horne was mentioned, for her sacrifices have mostly been forgotten. And of course, for Billie Holiday, whose life was so loaded that most of us traditional jazz singers can't even verbalize. Great artists take risks. We are all lucky that Audra did.

I love this WOMAN! Wow! What an actor!!! I was crying with her... We are witnessing a legend in our era...what a speech!!! I hope more parents will explore the Arts for their kid's "hyperactivity". Their souls are longing to CREATE and share with the world. And many of us are waiting to enjoy them on the stage. Thank you Audra for sharing your gift to the world. I know your parents are smiling from the heavens.

This same day, I went to see Les Mis (Audra’s husband Will Swenson happened to be playing Javert) and while my mother was waiting for me across the street from the stage door, she caught a glimpse of Audra in the car that was picking up Will to go to the Tony Awards 😃

I said hi to both of them once when they were walking in to do a benefit show at Wills grandparents theater. I could have seen them after the show too but I was too scared to actually go up and talk to her. I so regret that!

I first saw this lady not too long ago playing the roll of nurse Susie in the movie "Wit" with Emma Thompson. Right after the movie ended I went online searching to find more about her. To my surprise I discovered that she is a lot MORE than I ever imagined, she has recorded a few CDs and she is also a well acclaimed Broadway singer and performer. WOW the things you discover, and I first saw her acting as a supporting actress... Good for her !!! :-)

i love audra she is beyond talented but 6 tonys??? musical theeatre like hollywood loves to acclaim single people with tons of awards..(meryl streep or tom hanks comes to mind) but there are so many talented actresses that are just as deserving, if not more, of the recognition of a tony award win... ENOUGH already! we all know audra is fabulous! lets celebrate unknown talents (especially all those unknown black /latino asian female talents) and encourage them with good roles not pile on acclaim to those who already have it!

I agree (Except for Meryl Streep she's amazing) I felt like this was probably the only Tony Award she actually deserved there might have been one or two others, but she shouldn't have won six.

Not at all, considering she now has the most Tony awards in Broadway's history (and in less time than anyone else preceding her), and she is the first and only person to win at least one Tony in all her eligible categories.
