I bought a 2014 jetta se with auto and 1.8t (of course). I bought mine slightly used this past summer. It had been owned for 2 months and had 800 miles on it. It is toffee brown with tan interior/black dash and trim. Looks WAY better than the drab black interiors. I have 11k on it now and NO problems. Just had my 1st free service a few weeks ago. Since it was certified I have tons of warranty. VW dealer sold it to me for $16800 less $2500 for my 2001 Mercedes e320 that had every warning light on. So I financed like $15k after taxes and such. I love the lil car. It has plenty of get up go for me! It loves triple digit speeds on the freeway.

I test drove a Jetta 2.5 Se base back in 2013 and it had such a lumpy and boisterous (keys banged against the dash, no bump went unnoticed) ride. I loved the engine and exhaust note though. Also it's new blue color is sweet. I like the old tail lights better, these make the trunk look too fat.

Just how reliable is the Jetta's engine and electrical system? In my area there is a 2014 Jetta se for $11,995. I'm a bit gun shy based on most review ratings.

My 2014 Jetta is a Manual but I think it Drives really solidly and nicely...Mine is also an SE with the nav and some upgrades, however I have the hard dash, though I don't have a rattle in mine from anywhere so it may just be your car.
@brandonfriesen538910 жыл бұрын
The hard touch dash annoyed me in a 2012 Jetta I lived with for over a year. But after 3 weeks, I never felt it and therefore it never annoyed me again. It was actually nice because the soft touch dash is an insulator because of the foam and it radiates more heat. Also in extreme hot and cold temps, the hard touch dash holds up better by not expanding, cracking and tearing. Overall the 2012 Jetta was a nicer daily driver than a 2009 Jetta 2.0t DSG I had for 6 months. Throttle response was better, handling felt more controlled and tight while the mk5's felt loose(even my sisters 2006 Jetta TDI feels loose) and the suspension setup despite the torsion bar, was way more dampened and controlled. I like the mk5 but from a pure driving POV, the mk6 is better. Can you do a 0-60 and more videos on it? Could you compare it to the Wolfsburg?

I now have a OCT 2014 Jetta GT TDI (2015 facelift model). Still MK6 Golf running gear/platform and being a UK we have always had the fully independent suspension from 2011 - anyway can report it is very good 😊 and with all the facelift updates superb thing to be in and look at/drive. Not sure what the GT spec would be with you guys in the US.

When I test drove a 2013 Jetta 2.5 SE w/ Convenience & Sunroof I didn't really like how light the steering got at high speeds yet in the parking lot it was really heavy. It was something I could get used to, just initially it felt really weird.
@EricAtMazda10 жыл бұрын
ThinkOutsideTheCube The one you drove had hydraulic steering and it's back to electric for 2014. That sounds like a downgrade, but despite the lack of feel it tracks like a VW and is good at higher speeds.

Well my cousin needs a new car. Now she is looking at the Dodge Dart or the Ford Fusion. But if not those two cars. Do you think the Volkswagen Jetta will be a good car for her. If she does i told her to stay away from the S Model with the the old 2.0 Inline 4 from the MK3 Jetta. How do you like Volkswagen's new 1.8 inline 4 turbo?

The dash rattle can be heard. My 07 Legacy had a similar sounding one that was most prevalent in the winter but non existent when it was warm.

A friend of mine has a 2011 Jetta 2.5 SE w/convenience and sunroof and I was surprised with how well the panels fit together given the lower quality of the materials. Everything feels solid. Her's doesn't have any rattles, but there is quite a bit of wind noise on the passengers side. I prefer the Golf, but I'd rather have a Jetta than any compact from Toyota, Nissan, or Hyundai/Kia. And if you have the chance, you should drive a VW with the 2.5l engine; its a peculiar one.

Not bad, but I'm not sure this is what I'd buy... It's just pretty bland and way too cheap, especially having had a TDI MKV Jetta. Also, was it bouncing off the rev limiter when you punched it?

Have the exact car (except white). Car is solid at any speed. Engaging to drive even with an automatic.. Not a rocket but not slow either by any means. Fun to hustle it and a comfortable cruiser. Good on gas and only requires 87. No regrets for me.

Oh my gosh, when I saw that motorcycle pass you I just had to tell you this. I was driving down this one road that was 35 mph limit, I was doing about 42 and this guy in a camry goes and crosses the double yellow line to pass me and he's going like 55. I had the same reaction to him as you did that motorcycle, lol. I was like yea way to go buddy your sooo cool passing me up, just wait until you crash or get a ticket. Gosh I hate people like that, haha. I was going above the limit and its like oh what thats not fast enough for you? Your some fancy important person that has to be ahead of everyone else no matter what? Omg, lol.

2011 - 2014 is a MK 6 not a MK5 get it right! 2015 onwards is a MK7. I have a MK5 2007 TDI (140ps) Jetta Sport. We in UK/Europe we never lost the independent suspension or had the crappy interior the quality keep throughout the years. Still can't' ever understand why VW cost cut on your Jetta's.
@EricAtMazda9 жыл бұрын
Yeah I know...I was referring to our 2010 which is MK5.

folks buy Suburu and Toyota for dependibility, not driving fun. With VW you get there fast, unfortunately, many times limp home on a tow truck. The old VW quality is just now there anymore.

That dash rattle is terrible!
@austinformedude10 жыл бұрын
I agree. Completely unacceptable in this day and age at any price. I sold my last car (that I loved) because I couldn't get rid of a rattle. It was driving me insane.

My F-150 has a plastic fantastic interior and it has zero rattles. This is just unacceptable.
@ianhardy86527 жыл бұрын
Yeah um I have a Jetta 2014 se 1.8L with the hard plastic dash and it's never rattled I think that rattle is from the fact that that's a courtesy vehicle not a privately owned vehicle let's not put a foreign car in the Same place as an American car one is not like the other

P.s the Ford Fusion is a HORRIBLE car

The interior of my '03 Celica is worse, the entire dashboard is just one huge lump of plastic, thankfully I never hear any rattling. Very powerful car, I'll have to admit! I still wouldn't buy one though, I hate German cars; I prefer Japanese cars!

@derbigpr50010 жыл бұрын
LOL what the fuck is VW selling in America? That plastic is cheaper than in the smallest and cheapest VW you can buy in Europe. American Passat is not much better either. Tells something when the most expensive VW you can get in the USA is shittier than the cheapest one that's produced for EU market.
@masonresendes28658 жыл бұрын
They cheapened the car up so more people would buy it. If you want the full German car experience get the SEL. It has soft touch, better rims....
