0:02 Interesting that in the introduction, the engine start sound is from gas engine, not a TDI.

5:48 In the US, each engine/transmission combination has to undergo its own suite of EPA tests, adding additional cost.

Though my Passat is not a Diesel (2012 2.5L i5), I still love my light feathery clutch (even though it has 87000 miles on it). VW nailed long term drivability with that clutch. Traffic jams don't suck near as much compared to heavy clutches that you have to press all the down to the floor.

A new clean diesel tailpipe is cleaner than ANY gas car. My VR6's exhaust pipe is covered in soot, grandmas honda fit(with 16,000miles) has much more soot and moms Tiguan has lots of soot. My uncles 2012 Jetta TDI? As clean as it was the day it was delivered.

It looks like you never got your passat Wagon, since the Dieselgate story came up and stopped everything... OR DID YOU >? :D

I have a diesel forum and work on TDI as a hobby. Join our diesel club at www.myturbodiesel.com. I do not, nor have I ever worked for VW.

myturbodieseldotcom wow you've replied! Firstly, love the videos. I'll join once I'm on my laptop, I always have questions. Have you ever cleaned sticky turbo veins? A lot of people on forums say it can be done with Mr muscle oven cleaner. The primary ingredient being sodium hydroxide. Wonder if you can do a video on that.

+myturbodieseldotcom YOU do realize that manual no longer gets better MPG then automatics! ? which is why manufactures no longer offer manuals anymore!

no rain sensor on a passat and all that expensive useless emission system?, this is a no-go from the start. They also have that cheap trunk hinges instead of the beautiful scissor system like the 06 Vento. All in all i see no reason to buy anything after MY06(electric steering, laser-welded frontal suspension rack, no dpf or useless consumable liquid, multilink independent rear suspension, "scissor" trunk hinges, LED rear blinkers), as they cheapened the platform whilst adding useless expensive consumables to them
