The video shows me working on an NX, the 2010-15 RX and 2007-18 ES use the same transmission and are done in the same way.

Great video! Service manual says this needs to be done at least 3 times to drain all old fluid. That being said...should the vehicle be lowered off the lift, driven around, and then put back on the lift to repeat the steps another 2 times? I just want to avoid draining the brand-new fluid that i just put in the first time. How exactly does it mix throughout the entire transmission without being driven is my main question? Thanks Vik

@@Highstate808 you can follow the level setting procedure as shown in the video I linked earlier to see what the level is. @@ryanmolique8137 hi, as per the video, after you put it into the temperature detection mode by moving between D and N for 6 seconds: if the D indicator is off, it’s too cold, if D is on, it’s at the proper temperature, if it’s flashing D, the transmission is too hot. Make sure it says D when it is in park and neutral after activating the temperature detection mode, if it says P or N, you didn’t put it in temperature detection mode correctly.

Hi Viktor, service manuals available online mention that ATF oil draining and refilling should be done 3 times in a row during one oil change but on your video you did that only one time. I want to ask if you think that changing the oil three times is excessive? Oil volume in a transmission is about 6 liters so refilling 2 liters means that 66% of old oil is still in transmission.

It's actually very easy to change transmission fluid for as long as you have code reader or follow Viktor on how to put car into TC service mode. My car is 30K, I just do a drain and fill. NX300 actually has about 6.5qts transmission fluid, but you'll only drain out nearly 2qts and put back 2qts. Even with 30K, it was actually brownish, not the red color. In order to get to that RED color, you may need to do this 3-4 times but with 23K miles, maybe 2 times. Here's the step, you don't even have to lift the car to do it. 1. Find a level ground (very important) to make sure you car is level. 2. Turn the steering to the left, on the Driver wheel 3. remove the 4 plastic plugs, go on top of it, to pull out, it will fall out, you can use a screw driver, make sure not the bottom else you'll break the plastic plugs. You can re-use them. 4. Once remove plastic shield, you'll see a fill-plug (24MM). Make sure you can remove them, if the car never been done, it comes out pretty easily. 5. drain the transmission fluid with 6mm hex, locate just below the fill-plug. 6. use same 6mm hex to remove plastic plug inside drain plug, turn left to remove it. About 1qts of additional fluid will come out. When nothing else come out, put back the plastic plug, and drain plug (not too tight yet) you will need to remove for fill level. 7. Fill the transmission fluid - 2 qts (can be tricky because of location. I use a manual 1qts manual pump.) Tighten the fill plug to 30 ft pound. You can put plastic cover back on. 8. run the car to 104 degree or 40 degree celsius. use the time to run all the Gears (10 seconds each) so that new fluid can be mixed in with old fluid. remove drain plug and let the excess drain, about 1/2 qts. Once you see trickle drop, close it and tighten it 30 ft pound. Enjoy you day! This seems like a long procedure, but it doesn't take longer than 30 mins and you don't need to jack up your car and very minimal tool needed! Good luck!
