This is my successful upgrade of the B&O 10 inch sub in my 2015 Audi S3. I replaced the cheap pancake sub with a Hertz HX 250 2 ohm 10 inch sub. And powered it with Audison Mono sub amp AP1d. I grabbed signal off the Factory sub so I could use the built in Sub control in the headunit. The bass and sound is 1 million times better just running free air, and i will be building sealed box around sub very soon.

Thanks for showing how you took the trim off. Been wanting to upgrade mine, and haven't done it mostly cuz i didnt want to screw up the trim. But now that I see how easy it is, I just installed mine and it sounds great. Thanks again!

Jason, thank you so much for this video. The 8V platform is very, very similar (as far as the interior/stereo go) to my B8 A4 with the B&O audio. This video is incredibly helpful because I'm planning on doing something similar to what you've done here. Rock on!

Always nice to see people using Hertz products, great stuff from those guys. Really under-hyped... When I was working at a car audio shop the dealer for Hertz / Audison was great and the dealer comps / prices / comissions on them is insane!

@IconicYT 7 жыл бұрын
Well Audison products are more high tier, cleaner audiophile type of gear rather than high output and loud music that's why they came out with the Hertz brand, you can get a nice setup using say an HDP5 5 5 channel amp, some energy or high energy components and a sub for a decent price. Plus most shops that carry hertz run a 3 year warranty if they install it over other brands 1 year. Good company, just have to known what type of audio you're going for. They have stuff for everyone!

IconicYT yeah I know it's geared more towards sq builds and such.... yeah my shop wanted to charge me 600-780$ for my door speakers. I was like IDK man that's a bit high even focal has a lower price level and imo sounds just as good.

Hopefully you don't live in the US, because you can't get the RS3 here. At least yet. There have been rumors for years that they're coming. I tried waiting myself. A couple weeks ago I went to my local dealership to see if they had heard anything conclusive, and they weren't even aware of the rumors. So I broke down and got an S3. (which knowing my luck probably means the RS3 will show up this year. lol. ). I'm actually quite happy with the S3 though. It's an impressive little car. Good luck though!

Liked and following, traded my '16 stage 3 gti for a stock premium 15 audi a3 because the a3 has Quattro. I've been trying to find the love with the a3, truth be told I've got kids and the gti was cramped, this is a daily driver for the snow which is why it's important to me. I'm going from the hot asphalt of florida to up north, that's why the all wheel drive was important. Sorry for the word wall but Audi is such a specifit niche and most people go the VW route. Any thoughts are welcomed and yours is very clean. I'm redoing my audio system and say your video. Good stuff and I hope you and are well

I think it would be better just to do a slim 10" box. This car is not that large. Ill try to use the factory sub wires to pull the new wiring thru. I'm doing a lot of research. I wish i could just attach those wires on the stock sub to an amp. And just route the power wire.

Under the rear deck is tons of things to rattle, even the trunk light. Just taking deck out and putting 1 layer of any sound damping across entire deck will help tons. make sure the child safety caps are staying down tight, if you dont use them a little clear silicone dot will hold them tight and can be removed easy if needed.

Im not sure about that. The only thing i did check since stock sub was dual voice coil was polarity across. Like i said when the head unit was faded front to rear or left to right each side saw different voltage as well, making me want to grab both and sum them up before the amp.

Jason, going to try this this weekend in my 2017 A3 with B&O. Rant first: I'm upset that Audi removed the sub controls in the 2017 with the new MMI system. The sub is very weak and I have no control over it. I'm also concerned about the Active Noise Canceling system. Will that have to be disabled? Did you do that? How? Do you have any more detail on how you mounted the shelf you mounted the Sub in? Thanks! Erik.
@jasonin2details
@jasonin2details 7 жыл бұрын
Well you could find a amp the has a remote bass control knob that could be mounted up front some where. I did not disconnect my active Noise but i need to. Someone in comments or the forum post said they simply unhooked the microphone in the overhead console but that also killed the phone hands free. I dont use hands free so im going to give it a shot. As for the shelf I just used about 12 inch long self tapping sheet metal screws up into the metal shelf. I used a floor jack in center of the trunk and pressed the new wood deck up tight where I wanted it and then screwed in the corners then removed the jack and did rest of screws. Once you take the inside rear deck out you will see its at least 3 inches away so no fear of screw poking into it. And dont forget you may want to replace the trunk dome light since it sucks and rattles.

Cool, any pictures? Can you feel the ANC working? How much better is it when it is not working. Very curious about his feature in our car, it gets a bit noisy above 80+ . Nothing to blame cause it is a compact/ entry level luxury. I believe it is the best NVH in the class according to the road test. I wish ANC can make the noise down so close to A6 noise level. Let me know.

Hiya mate, not sure if you still answer questions on this but hoping you can as so hard to get info about the bang Olufsen as no one goes in to detail like you did adding stuff, basically i have the exact same car in black also with same system, i want to tap in to the 2 rear parcel shelf speakers with a kicker kisloc 2 however im worried as dont want to waste my money as im not sure if it will take a good signal from those speakers as i believe they are surround speakers so wont provide a full range good signal to send to my active sub? Id love to hear your opinion on that, the second option i have is tapping in to the factory b&o sub wiring however im not sure the kisloc can handle that as the b&0 has got to be pushing out at least 200w and i believe the kisloc is rated to 55w and dont want the hasstle of an lc2i as they are too complicated for me, im still planning to leave the b&o sub running as is and the goal is to fit an audison prima 10inch active sub to work alongside the b&o to give it that extra punch, i had the audison fitted in my golf r and was connected to the rear speakers on the basic 4 speaker factory system and sounded great but the b&o is much more complicated in speakers bloody every where doing various things😂🙈.. Hoping you can give some advice dude, your video is literally the only help on the internet and iv been researching about a week lol..
@jasonin2details
@jasonin2details 15 күн бұрын
I dont know what kind of output the rear speakers are doing. Personally I would not use them and I think the Lc2i is the way to go and grab sub signal. That way you still have your factory fade front to back and sub control from your head unit. You are correct that Kisloc would be overpowered and then it would clip. I would not use the factory sub at all, i fear you might run into phase issues and it could cancel output. Dont be afraid of the 4 wires going into the factory sub. You could always test what inputs on the sub speaker are positive to make sure you get it right. Check out this forum for more help www.diymobileaudio.com/threads/2105-audi-b-o-speaker-upgrade.414655/

Not at this time. The B&O system is very good. A quality door set $1000 might barely improve sound. what it really would need is new amp to power doors so that time and expense could approach $2000. After spending $500-600 on different Hertz Speaker, I was really disappointed. I had everything sound deadened my doors and Hat Rack, Trunk ect.. I pulled everything out and put cheap Kicker speakers in that I bought at Walmart. Because I sold the car, Believe it or not, they sound way better. My next Audio build is gonna be something special. I went to some SQ competition to hear some things in person and not just go with brand names cause not every brand name lives up to their name. Where the Kickers better? Maybe not but it had a bunch of better mid bass and for the price it was hard to badmouth them. If I’m gonna down $1000+ on speakers, go to some SQ competition and hear them for your self cause local shops will push Focal Utopia when there are better speakers out there for less or a bit more. Love the Audi Build, I have a 14’ A6 with Bose and I’m just gonna add bass to that car, so thanks for the Video!

My amp already has a built in LOC and can accept High Level inputs so I was wondering where I should be tapping the speaker wires? and if I should be tapping the oem subwoofer signals or the signals going to the rear door speakers. Also, is the OEM non BO amp on the left side of the trunk when you are facing the trunk?

B&O 10 inch sub a cheap pancake sub ????????? Some people surely don't know what B&O represents in the high-end sound and video. I assume It's just a matter of lack of information.

Would love to see you take a look at the one that comes stock-not nearly as nice as some of the aftermarket ones out there. Not to mention, rattles the whole rear deck with lots of bass because of how it’s mounted

Mark D'Alelio No it doesn't. You have to understand the laws concerning manufacturer warranties. Warranty is void if a problem arises and can be linked to the customer's product
