Zack, great review! We just picked up a manual '16 GT convertible and love it. One other thing I'd like to point out is it rides so smoothly and the seats are all-day comfortable; it's the perfect GT car. And yes people, get your naturally aspirated V-8s now!! I watch A LOT of car reviews and your reviews never disappoint, keep up the good work north of the boarder my friend (writing from Wisconsin, USA)! :)

I thought my next car would be a Suburu Crosstrek for its 4 wheel drive and roof racks. Its a very practical car. However recently I've been wanting something with a little oomph without being to expensive. Mustang convertibles are pretty sweet to look at and look fun to drive and from what I've heard, they're pretty reliable.

The convertible top was virtually silent and smooth as silk when raising and lowering. Wonderful proportions and enduring design! Mustang is gorgeous.

fords vice president has stated many times that a mustang gt has always been and will always be a v8.

I have a 2015 Mustang GT, with automatic transmission, I'm getting about 19-21 MPG mixed and that's on regular gas. The automatic has true sport mode, paddle shifters that will automatically match the the engine to the gear on downshifts. First Ford I ever bought and I love it.

I love this car...I have a bunch of Euro cars (E55, Lotus Elise, and M6 Convertible)...and this car is laid out essentially like the M6 Ragtop...but is a third the cost...and gets way better mileage and maintenance is cheaper...the M6 interior is nicer...and the V10 is of course in a different league...but this package is a steal...Great job America...

Nice review as usual but it would have been nice to get the real world fuel economy numbers as you mentioned it was horrendous and I'm curious how bad it is. Also which German cars would you put it head to head against and would you get this Mustang over those German cars?

Thanks Zack....i have this one with the nice automatic with paddle shifters and the titanium coloured 19" wheels. It IS a rock solid choice that brings smiles everytime i drop the top and step on the gas! Nice review.

I own a 2015 Mustang GT Premium Coupe, performance pack. Bang on review and yes in the city I drive my GTI. On the highway though the Mustang got better fuel economy than my previous all season vehicle, Mini Countryman !!! No joke. The Mini Countryman is a gas guzzler in the city and not as bad on the highway but still awful. GT stands for Grand Touring and it really is best suited to road trips not hopping around town because the 5.0 sucks gas. The Mustang is a joy to drive but as Zach hints is for a small target market and for those just scooting around town get the V6 base or Eco boost.

one thing for certain... the new mustang, looks a heck of a lot better in person rather than majority of vids and photos portray. First is the fact they FINALLLYYY got the proportions right!. yes.. for years. heck for generations the mustang has fallen ill to the wrath of terrible auto designers. Proportions in relation to the original 60's mustangs were completely off. Gone was its traditional long hood despite the nods by auto jounalists. what on earth were they seeing? not a fastback and not a long hood. Much of the mustangs prior dismay was due to Fords lack of progression with mustang. sure the marque sold due to the fan base but Ford litterally did everything in hopes that it would fail. (possibly so they could take a second swing at PROBE) Mustangs became a frog with the mustang II /.pinto body, then got al geometry with the Fox, though one cant argue the fox mustang single handedly re ignighted the performance car industry in the mid 80's in 90 ford began to think clearer with mustang, and sn95 though fox chassis based was reskinned with notable cues from the original. in fact aftermarket venders like Saleen and Roush transformed the mustang in a fully blooded sports car capable of beating the likes of porshe corvette and ferrari. sn95 Saleens even ran in 24hr lemans. Retro, introduced in 05 was another stab at getting the mustang to indeed be a mustang though the car was far too large far too heavy bulky monster truck like all the things that shouldnt be done in the creation of a sportscar, never the less s550 mustang in special edition form (ala boss302) was capable of perfoming on the level of those past supercar like late model mustangs from saleen and roush, still the car was far too big. WIth 2015 ford kept part of the outgoing chassis but went to work correcting its proportions from big tall narrow and stubby to low sleek wide and sexy and in many ways looks as much as an evolution of sn95 . the marque is drenched with character. one again gives hints to its aston martin like relation. but dont be confused... it was aston martin who mimiced the mustangs design not the other way around. well done ford well done.

I have never been a real fan of the Mustang convertible. But, I saw one in person today, and I think I like it better than the new hard top. Now that it looks more like a sports car, it may give the new Mazda MX-5 some competition?

Well the pricing is out for the '17 convertibles and Ford is still going with the stripped down base V6 and no real options, or the 4 banger and V8 in premium trim only. So much for choices...

The V6 for 30 grand? I see it on Ford.ca starting at just over $25k. Did your totals include taxes, freight etc? Going to be buying a 2016 Ford Mustang V6 Fastback next month hopefully. Just ordered one yesterday!

The V8 will last, car companies will just be sure to have fuel efficient cars in their line up to balance everything out... it is more about the fuel efficiency of their offered line up than anything else.

The old 'vert looked like a shoe, this looks great. The V8 will probably stick around for a while, but it will shrink down to around 4 liters like the Germans.

I find it hard to believe that the average Canadian is paying that kind of money for a new vehicle. I find it very expensive. I am not denying it is a lot of car, but the average Canadian is not going to cough up almost $60 000.00 for a new car...or am I out of step with today's economy?

You must be tripping on acid if you think this car could hold a candle to the BMW M5. I have driven both and the Stang is dogshit around twisty roads compared to a good German high performance car. Basically you get what you pay for in this life.....German car eater.........frankly thats laughable
