Got mine 4 days ago... love it!!! Black on black with the performance package (19" black rims too). Holyshitballz does this thing make me feel like a grandpa when I drive my 2013 F150 5.0 V8 Never owned a mustang before and I can say I am a proud owner of something that is the foundation of what Ford Engineers are going to bring to the table in years to come. Thank you Ford for killing my insurance payments!!!

It's funny, it was the first 30 seconds of this review that really sold the S550 for me all those years ago. I ended up special ordering a Guard Green 2016 and now have over 80k smiles on it, all thanks to this video. Every year or so I go back to this review to remember that initial feeling.

Just picked one up, last Saturday. 2016, Charcoal grey, 5.0, with the premium package, 6 speed manual, of course. I'm a 100% GM guy...I wanted to trade in my '14, 2500 hd duramax for a sports car. (couldn't justify the cost, have no farm). Looked at the SS camero...terrible. Dated, the plastic buttons were horrible. the layout looked forced, and the handling was brutish. the premium GT was elegant..the lines were flowing...and she danced over the pavement. I fell in love...bought it on the spot. I haven't fooled with Ford in 25 years...this car has changed my outlook. and yeah..I've taken a lot of heat buying it...putting down mustangs for decades. This is truly an entry level SUPERCAR. nice fucking job.

You're right, and it doesn't look like an old mustang either..... no '60,'70, or '80's look. this is a NEW MUSTANG I hope on the next model they can make it look like it is not sagging at the back and raised at the front.

Sounds awesome Brian. After 50 years, Ford have FINALLY given us Aussies the opportunity to own a Mustang (in right-hand drive). Mine's in the first shipment, but won't be here till the end of the year - hope I live long enough to take delivery!

I got this new internship today thats allowing me to work half as much, but make double the salary of my old job. First thing I did: Test drove the 2015 Mustang GT on the way home. Told the guy to give me his card and that I'd be back in a month or two after I get settled(might wait till spring for better weather).

Dude you have no idea. Everyday I've been looking at more and more videos of this beauty I want it now. I have to be patient though for the best. I'm considering ordering myself a 50th Anniversary in black because all the dealers nearby have are white/blue. I'm willing to wait longer if I have to to get it in black.

Before Play I never buy the 1st model year of a new design...did that twice before and both times had minor issues. Now, I wait for them to work out all the kinks. Plus, waiting for the 2016 model is worth it due to all the upgrades... Sync 3 is way better than myford touch. New steering wheel, hood, and a lot more options will be available. I love this car and can't wait till December! My only issue is Camaro is also coming out with a new model... it has magnetic ride suspension, nicer new interior, heads up display, and the 460hp corvette engine. Hell, they even made it look a lot like the mustang lol Going to have to test drive both but it's a good time to be a automotive enthusiast!

Have to admit I'm really impressed with the new Mustang, and I'm a GM guy. Ford did a great job with the exterior styling, improved interior, and suspension upgrades. Finally, a chassis deserving of the 5.0 Coyote. Only thing that bugs me is the exhaust tips. Needs quad tips out back. They look great on the new Roush. I can't believe I'm saying this but I think I need to go test drive a new 'stang.

Brian i just test drove a PP Gt however it was raining so i wasn't able to push the car. Here are my thoughts. Ride quality is much better than the BMW M3/4 with their passive and adaptive suspension. Brakes were incredible much more initial bite than other cars using similar hardware. The clutch is so easy to drive, the gearbox is great and almost as good at the C7 Vettes gearbox. Steering feel was also great it felt very natural and on center not heavy and synthetic like the BMW M felt. The Recarro seats are the best and most comfortable OEM i have ever sat in, they fit me like a glove. Engine sound is awesome. the car overall is so practical for an everyday driver yet it has real sports car manners. I think im gonna buy one. FYI i also like that Ford didnt emulate fake engine sounds in he cabin. Thanks Ford for not following other brands, its very lame what others are doing trying to make 6 cylinders sound like V8

Great to hear, Phil! Shame it was raining. I agree with you on all points. This week I'm testing an M3 with the standard suspension and it's way too firm for a road car, particularly when the new body shell is more rigid than before. There's no excuse for that, and the reality is that it sells cars. Buyer goes for a test drive in the M3, salesperson points out the sporty ride, buyer buys into that nonsense. On top of it, the car sounds like a teenager's fart can-equipped Honda on the outside, but on the inside it sounds like it's got a V8. I really don't like that fakery. Let me know how it goes. Brian Makse Yeah i drove both M3 back to back the passive is so damn hard it will make you hate the car on a daily basis in NY, no wonder most dealers cars in stock aren't selling without the Adaptive but overall the car is so stiff for a daily driver. The thrill of the M wears off quick which stopped me from buying one. Plus iv never owned a 6 cyl or turbo car. Brian go test drive a new 2015 Mercedes C400 AMG with 19 wheels this is a super impressive little car it will give some feedback on the new C63 coming out. It will destroy the BMW, youll see. If the dealer finds me a GT PP in the next week il be buying one.

Brian Makse Brian i bought a black/black PP GT today i should pick it up next week. I had a nice 1 hour long test drive alone and that sealed the deal. car is just great overall. Will be adding a nice exhaust then just enjoy it. We looked at the 2015 Challenger 392 which is identical to a Hellcat minus the engine and it was decent but the Mustang kills it in every department. I was surprised how well the Dodge drove for such a huge heavy car, they did some nice work on the 2015 compared to when the Challenger first came out in 2008 but not enough to make me a buyer.

I still haven't gotten my hands on a 2015 since I saw them in a sneak preview late last winter. I'm really curious to see how that package has come together.

Christ, I've owned a 2015 Ruby Red Mustang GT Performance pack 6 speed number 12804 off the assembly line since Nov 1st 2014. I laugh at the remarks from the Label shopping zit popper kids who praise the BMW at twice the cost. Never been into status myself just results and this car delivers. Go ahead an piss away an extra $40,000 of daddy's money a fool and his money (or Daddy's money) are soon parted.

Interesting comment on the car vs. the M4, I often think auto journalists only push Euro's because they are foreign and it keeps people coming back to the sites and dreaming of expensive cars because they cannot test drive them... I hope it doesn't hurt you within the industry, as a journalist.

First, let's put it this way - I'm not your traditional auto scribe, I don't pretend to be a journalist, and I'm not part of the auto buff book culture, either. If I made content decisions based on offending manufacturers, that would be disingenuous to you and all our viewers, and that's not my style. So, count on me to tell it the way I see it. As for the M4, it's better with the DCT than the manual, since that new motor is turbocharged and can never be as crisp and responsive as a normally aspirated V8.

I'm debating between the recaro seats and regular seats with heated/cooling. I love recaro but I also like the ac/heated tho. What'cha guys think? Which one is more valuable?

For this car, I'd get cloth Recaros if they're available. I didn't realize ventilated seats were an option. My time with the test car was fully focused on driving dynamics. We'll have an in depth review to follow as soon as we can get our hands on one for more than a few hours!

If you're buying the car because it's sexy, get the heated/cooled leather seats. If you're buying it more for performance than style, get the Recaros. If you can't decide, buy the one that pleases your butt the most

Nick Busato Very underrated in my opinion, the few reviews I've been able to find on it have been positive as well. Its as punchy as the turbo 4 with a much better exhaust note

I won't be canceling my Hellcat order, but I have to give Ford a lot of credit here. I really like the changes they made, especially the interior! Looks like a well buttoned down Pony Car. Great review!

I wouldn't cancel a Hellcat order for this, either! I'm not easily impressed by new cars, but Ford really hit this one out of the park. I think you'd enjoy it on it's own merits. We're getting our hands on a Hellcat soon and definitely looking forward to it.

Brian Makse I agree this car has lots of merits. I am glad to see the big three stepping up with new interiors. (Chevy, hello, are you listening? Camaro needs some refreshing). And as much as some don't like the tech, I am glad to see tech trickle down to the muscle cars. My 300C had a ton of neat tech that I lost when I moved over to my SRT8 Challenger. Fortunately with the 2015's they finally brought it all over, and wrapped it up nicely. Can't wait to see your Hellcat review! :)

EscapeforMankind Yeah, but it puts the power down more smoothly than the GT500 does, which is also overpower for it's chassis :) Some of us like overpowered. If I wanted well balanced I'd buy a Vette again.

LONG-time BMW 3-series owner here who feels like he needs a break ... and believe me when I say, I'm looking at the Mustang GT so hard, my eyes should be drilling holes through it! Beautiful car, well engineered and sorted out. Frankly, I'm impressed as hell!

+Troubleshooter125 you won't regret it, bud. I left an '08 E92 335i and purchased essentially the exact car you see in this film (color, trim, options, etc.). Nothing but smiles! That V8 is so much more enjoyable than any turbocharged I6 BMW makes imo.

You don't need to justify your choice to go with a non-premium 00A GT. Some people value the added amenities which probably carry a negligible weight and performance penalty given a direct comparison (I'm looking for outright performance but can't pass up the 401A). Congratulations on your order though!

Finnaly the American car companys are investing into the designdepartments. I mean the old school muscle cars are awesome, but almost everything which came later just looked boring and uninspired. Glad to see this sexy Mustang with independent rear suspension.

I have a 2012 GT Premium with light mods (exhaust, tune, MGW shifter). After seeing one of the 2015's in person and sitting in it, I can say that I was VERY impressed by the interior improvements. I'm still not 100% sold on the styling, and don't like the fact that the car gained 100 or so lbs. The tests so far say that it's no faster than my car in a straight line, which is a bit of a disappointment. All that said, it's a very nice car. Maybe a 2016 for me? I love Guard on the new Mustang.. looks great. I want the performance package, but I want the rear lip spoiler. Why can't I have both?

It's much faster in the corners, though. For me, that's what I'm looking for. You can get the package and the spoiler, of course, just not fitted at the factory.

Brian Makse I want to see some real documentation to back up the idea that the 2015 Mustang is substantially faster around the corners than the 2011-14. I'm not saying that it isn't, but I want to see the proof. The 2011-14 S197 was a good-handling car with decent tires on it.

hartsickdisciple Give it time and there'll be plenty of examples. Not hard to fathom considering the car its replacing ran with a truck axle in the back. Car hasn't even been on dealer lots for more than a couple of weeks.

Anthony Gonzalez As proven by the Boss 302, the live axle wasn't really holding back the S197 in terms of handling on a track or other smooth surface. The IRS is helping more when it comes to ride quality and bumpy roads. Obviously those are important things to most people, since they spent 98-100% of their time driving the car on public roads.

I own a 2012 GT premium also (all black). I'm glad it doesn't sport the 2013 rear tail light ugly design (looks more like the 2015 actually). I have an intake, exhaust, and tune also. So your car with these mods is making around 460hp at the crank (being modest). The only selling point for us is how important is an IRS.... part of me likes the solid/unruly live axle which will become sought after probably. Another part likes refinement. Sorry for the rant.

Damn you! I had my mind set on a wrx sti wagon. I own a 2012 mustang gt and was going to go for AWD because of the crappy love rear axle. So the IRS makes a world of difference Brian? Great review. Yeah, like a dude below me said. I did not want this to end. Brian, do you know if they did anything to improved the my82 transmission?

I was the same way! I chose this because a couple reasons, 1. i like how it looks in and out. 2. V8 no turbo lag and it sounds great!. 3 RWD I live in the valley so I don't need AWD for my driving needs this car does fine in the rain, and i love RWD cars! But it comes down to your preference. Go test drive both see what fits you more. Cant go wrong either way

Michelle Sollfrank Thanks! If you're talking about RWD vs AWD, then it's undoubtedly RWD, but it's got to be something with crisp responses, great balance, good feedback, and a good driver interface. Balanced control weights for bonus points. This Mustang GT Performance Pack is one of those cars. Keep in mind, though, that I'll race just about anything.

Great review. Now just imagine how bad-ass the GT 350 will turn out. With performance numbers trumping the C7 Z51 (not to mention M4) and pricing in the low to mid 50s, that car will certainly be a grand-slam homerun provided Ford trims some fat from the S550 chassis.

I think the GT 350 will easily best the M4, but the Stingray Z51 might be a tough one to beat in terms of outright performance, but it'll undoubtedly represent an amazing value. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

Alright I'm a Mustang guy, but lets not act like Camaro isn't competition. The 1LE, Z/28 and ZL1 are all tough cars to go up against.

The 1LE is the closest competitor to the GT with Performance Package. Z/28 and ZL1 are totally different cars compared to the GT. I tested the 1LE two weeks before the Mustang and was really impressed, but the new Mustang is light years ahead in terms of refinement and might be on par in terms of lap times.

I dont think anyone is suggesting the Camaro isn't competitive to the Mustang. I will say this, the 1LE, Z28, and ZL1 are all made to be better than the 2014 Mustang offerings. The 2015 Mustang is going to raise the bar, and again when the GT350/GT350R comes out. Just like it's whole life since 1967, the Camaro will have to play catch-up. It always been easy for the Camaro to have more power than the Mustang, because Camaro is always the following act. Just my two cents

Sam Moon The only Camaro that can compete is the Z28 - which costs more than the new vette... GM has a tradition of asking too much $$ though. Thats why I ended up with a Ford.

Brian great video! Though I've been wondering, how does the GT without the PP hold up? Have you driven one? Would like to see a review comparing the two. I'm having a hard time justifying spending an extra 2grand for better track performance, when I have no plans to ever track it. She will be my DD, and I only live 4 miles from work. and most of my spirited driving will be on the roadways for very short periods of time on the weekends. Maybe a long road trip here and there as I visit family in Denver.

Thanks for watching, Tyler! Don't know about the regular GT, didn't drive one, but will do in the coming months. As for the PP, at $2k, it's bargain! Considering all of the bits you're getting, it would cost you much, much more to go aftermarket, and even then there's no guarantee it'll be as good as the factory set up. Keep in mind, the PP doesn't make it a hard core track car, it's just slightly dialed up version for drivers like us. It just so happens to be faster and more confidence-inspiring than the Boss. Coming from a big fan of the Boss 302 (me!), I'm telling you that the Performance Package is the best two grand you'll spend!

Black cars just lack detail when rear lit. The guard green on the other hand does work well. Take you car and shoot it at sunset while shooting against the light. So long as you manually expose for the dark side of the car your car will look epic.

A big problem the current models have is that the clutch pedal goes too far down. If you're less than 6' tall this can result in your right leg being very close to the under-dash whilst you left leg has to tip toe when fully dropping that clutch pedal. I hope they fixed it. But if they didn't I hope I can fit an adapter on that new pedal.

Great review Brian. I am going to order one of these in Guard here this year. I was wondering how stiff a ride this was with the PP?? I am considering ordering without the PP but you get so much for your $$. I am going to use it for a DD and long trips. I'll probably never take it on the track but am still considering ordering it with the PP. Whadday think?? Should I save the $2500.00??

Thanks, Dennis. For context, I drove the car in Southern California with better than average roads. I didn't find the ride too firm for daily driving and I don't think the spring rates are much different than the regular GT. The big difference with the PP I think is with the dampers. I don't think those will bother anyone on any road surface. Heck, I'd daily a PP GT on my crappy roads in Toronto. Sure, it's faster than the Boss around a circuit, but I think it rides a heck of a lot better.

Hello all. Need advice. I have the 2005 GT. A few after market upgrades (hypertech, cold air exhaust, magnaflow exhaust). Super low mileage. Mineral gray metallic. Thinking of getting a 2015. Hard to decide because I love my first baby so much. Your thoughts? Thank you.....

Thanks for watching and your question! It's hard because your GT is so special to you. It's a great car to begin with, so it's hard to justify moving to a '15 just because it's the new generation. That said, the new car is better is every fundamental way. If you want the latest and greatest, then get it. If you'll miss your car too much, wait until you're ready. Let us know what you decide.

Brian i am so anxious to drive the new Mustang. I ordered a new M4 which is 4 months away and to be honest after driving one 9 times im not sold on the car. It needs a V8 and a better manual gearbox and no fake engine sound pumped into the cabin. All in all the M4 really did not engage me fully as i was expecting and is a boatload of money which i have a hard time justifying. I think the new Mustang will deliver and wait until the special editions start coming from tuners and Shelby

Thanks for watching, Phil. The M4 comes across as having extra layers of electronics between you and the road. The Mustang is simply more direct and connected. The M4 manual has a bit of turbo lag that I don't think will be present with the dual clutch. On materials, fit and finish, and tech, the M4 is on a different level than Mustang. Sounds like you're undecided, so I'm curious which way you're going to go.

I will report back as soon as my NY dealer gets a Gt for me to drive. i like a more raw car this time around. Just sold my 2012 CTsV yesterday and comparing the power to that to the M4 is a joke. And yes the manual M4 does have turbo lag and does not feel as fast. the DCT was all over the road as traction was terrible at wot. I have quite a few cars just looking for a fun engaging car with a true manual gearbox, wish the C7 would be practical but not for daily use in the NYC area

Phil C I think you'll like it. The 5.0 is crisp where that turbo six is soft. Now, the C7 is pretty cool, but driving it in the NYC area would probably kill it. Much like driving here in the city of Toronto, only worse...

Nice review... ! I have never thought about owning a GT until now, but have always admired it from a distance. With so many moving parts in the new model, now my question is whether I have to wait it out to see if there are any performance issues with the new IRS, etc, or whether I can take the plunge.

Buy it. Get a GT, six speed manual, performance package. The rest is up to you. The IRS is not magic and old tech. I can't imagine any issues with it.

Well, Brian -- you are the man! Great review, I just bought a brand new 2015 GT, and your review helped. I see some reviews here on youtube from car dealers showing the car from outside going on and on about every little feature as the car sits on the parking lot, which gets boring pretty fast. On the other hand, the reviews by guys like speedlane driving and everydaydrivingtv only show the car from inside as they ride it, so not really much is seen about the car itself. You somehow find a nice balance showing the car from inside and outside, as you ride the streets, and it is really helpful for a a regular guy like me. I was really torn between Challenger and GT, and still think that Challenger 2015 has by far better looks, but GT wins in every other category. Just bough Mustang GT guard color with black wheels, I guess I have been watching your review too many times :)

Brian Makse Got performance pack, but not much of the gadgets. I mostly care about the performance. Love the sound of the engine too. Sad to think (from a driver's point of view) that in a couple of generations all cars probably will be either battery or fuel-cell based and will sound similar to Tesla roadster. Would love to see you a review of Hellcat or RT...

You can't go wrong with either of them! Not much I can say, really. The Camaro 1LE is purported to be faster around a circuit, but the Mustang has a much more modern interior. That's a tough decision. Let us know what you decide.

I love the car, probably the best all around Mustang ever made. I came up with an MSRP of $42,900ish for the car you tested, which isn't bad considering the 2014 GT I looked at about a month ago was $43,700ish. Will I be buying one? Nope, wish I could but my VA disability just doesn't stretch far enough!
