I've had mine for almost a month and I love it. Great for utility work around the farm and we have a great time just blasting around the property on it. It has best served me in the woods deer hunting the last few weeks. I've been on a Maverick and Razor as well as a utility such as a Ranger. None serve all purposes like the Pioneer. I dare you to try to get those big bohemoths in some of the tight trails I've been on!

Funny, all these comments about Can Am, Polaris, RZR.... This unit is for the old guys (like me), who run their trails at the deer camp or to check their cattle on the farm..... You youngsters keep flying and flipping and BREAKING DOWN.... And our OLD ASSES will keep passing you up, somewhere down the trail....on our Honda's!!!! LOL!!!!!

I'm a young guy and at 40 mph on the Pioneer, it feels like 60! It's plenty fast enough for this young whipper snapper!

Haven't seen any new videos on this UTV. Looking for a 50" option that is quiet (I show land to buyers & need to talk to them about the property as we go). It seems like a "shiftable" UTV could help bring the noise down. Most of my coworkers have Rangers but I like the narrower 50" size. I also feel like the suspension on sportier UTV's may allow for adjustments that provide a more comfortable ride. Any thoughts related to those topics? I've watched you comparison of the 50" RZR & Maverick but it was focused more on speed, engine performance, etc.

I have a 2017 honda pioneer. Its a good machine for what its built for. In manual mode it automatically gears down when u get on the breaks and this is rough on the rear end of the machine and driver. Can this be disabled or turned off. I want to be the one to gear it down when needed in manual mode. If anyone knows a solution please comment. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There is a lot of emphasis on fun in this review. But there is a ton of work applications that NEED a 50 inch width in a side by. Running around the desert or on decommissioned logging roads for fun is doable on any UTV. But try crawling into the backcountry mountains on nothing more than moose trails or old mining tracks or drill trails and you'll see why 50 inches is important. And a rack is waaaay better than a box as you build your own without starting with the constrictions of a manufactured box. And it's a Honda...most excellent Smithers.

Honda is king of the YUV (Yard Utility Vehicle). The word "recreation" should stay out of the equation during the presentation. That's where you invite all the backlash from Rzr/Maverick/Commander owners.

Honda, I love my Rincon. And my brother loves his Foreman, but you've ignored us trail riding, mud loving, sport SXS fans for too long. I've gone as far as considering CFMoto's Snyper 800 because you won't release anything sporty. Great machine for the noobs and 50 and up crowd I suppose, but what about those of us who are loyal fans and have been waiting for a pure sport SXS? Someone at your company must realize you are bleeding loyal fans with all this nonsense? Polaris will probably get my money, I've waited long enough.

I still wish Honda would come out with a two cylinder engine like Polaris, Can-Am, and Arctic Cat then you would have an awesome SxS or quad.
@sldl0410 жыл бұрын
Not going to happen anytime soon---their target audience is aimed at new riders and utility applications, not performance riders. It's been that way for years now with Honda.

Lacks ergonomics for lengthy rides. Requires locking diff. Lack of after market accessories. Those are the issues to me. I'm a long time Honda rider, but went with 50 inch Rzr 900 instead. Honda is on the right path, but still have work to do IMO. For all the Polaris or Honda haters, either machine can and will cost you money in the end...if you think differently you kidding yourself.
@zachroell17146 жыл бұрын
keith mcguigan youl spend more money accessorizing the Honda to get it where the Polaris is stock, but no other manufacturer from a reliability standpoint can touch a Honda

I think this is going to be a great machine. Not everybody wants a hotrod SxS. It's small and capable which is great for those of us not looking for a thrill ride. The electronic manual is great for those of us wanting more control over the gear box. I don't believe this machine was made to compete with the RZR or Maverick etc. I think it was made to compete with the 50" Chinese machines that are starting to come out. There are folks interested in those machines who are committing to purchases but don't feel the security of factory support like you would get from a big brand company. Many of those individuals want a affordable and rugged 50" wide SxS but don't require the sport of current big brand offerings. Again, like myself. We want a 50" utility SxS that is well built and not a diesel Gator. On a side note, I also don't believe Honda should ignore the 50" sport category. By the other comments made there is clearly a market. Knowing Honda they will take their time and release a solid product even if it isn't a game changer. But I'm willing to bet if they drop this electronic shift transmission in a big engine sport people will love it. Especially if they add the option of where you can select automatic or electronic shift simply by flipping a switch.

Great write up guys! The comparison to the RZR's is laughable.... this machine is THOUSANDS less money and not targeted to compete with a RZR. I may buy one to transport the wife and I around our cabin trails! I'm a Yamaha fan, but they are WAY late to the party.... so I'd buy the Honda for my needs. And it will WAY outlast any Polaris POS

I'm a Honda guy, I have a Honda dirt bike and a quad but I dislike the paddle shifting and the rack, like why no dump box? If I were to buy a side by side it better have a dump box cause I would get a lot more use out of that box than that rack. Besides if you want a rack, buy an ATV

TheCamaro5 Hopefully Honda isn't planning on going head to head with Polaris or Can-Am then. 500cc's and 37 mph won't cut it. It's definitely aimed at new riders who could care less about speed---it's basically a utility application machine, not a trail/performance machine.
@zachroell17146 жыл бұрын
shaker650 they have 28hp and go 42 miles an hour if you swap out the 24 inch tires for 26’s which is plenty performance for most people. Not to mention with a gear drive transmission 28 horsepower feels a lot more impressive than it would with a cvt

its incredible the ability of people now a days to judge something by its looks...its a pain in the ass to be an enginner, working so hard to put the best quality into a product as we can, for later a stupid idiot like you to just call it ugly and "get you shit together"...who the f*ck are you to tell honda anything??? shut the hell up and go do something with your life idiot
@Driftuner10 жыл бұрын
joe dirttae first of, since when was i "defending" honda? i dont care what honda does...i dont work for them and i am not an ATV/UTV active buyer anymore for quite a while now...its just that as an engineer myself, i find pretty damn frustrating to see people saying that kind of stuff without having a slight clue...why people have to be so negative?? ok, maybe the look isnt to your liking, but then dont scream around "get your shit together"! specially to such a big name with a huge history in the atv industry as the red one...they dont need to "get theyre shit together", instead of seeing things that way, why not see it as "oh, its good to have a brand covering a part of the market that is relatively weak at the moment, while having good old legendary quality and a friendly price"...why not seeing it that way? which is to be honest the correct way INDEPENDENTLY IF YOU LIKE/BUY IT OR NOT!!! its just the fair and open minded way of seeing it! if "hondas decisions" were really THAT bad as everyone seems to see it, then explain to me how do they sell so much? not trying to defend honda necessarily, but trust me as i have worked with big companys like this my intire life: such a big company as honda knows what theyre doing!! if you had the slightest clue on how much it costs to simply introduce this product, without even talking about seeling it, you would know that they know what they are doing! no company as big as red spends THAT kind of maney for something that will fail! and as a loooong time market leader, red would know that! of that you can be damm sure..

Better off with a pickup truck goes further goes better and lasts longer Even a used pickup is a better deal than an atv ATV no longer makes sense they raised the price now it competes with pickup trucks 25 miles a gallon makes the ATV a laughable proposition
@brad86658 жыл бұрын
+David Stanley Side by sides can go MANY places a truck cant, even a mini truck. It's a lot easier to get a truck stuck, they are much heavier and have open diffs. A side by side is a brand new, trouble free machine; turn the key and go.
@DavidStanleymusic8 жыл бұрын
Bradley Vaillancourt My truck rides the same narrow trails the atvs make without problems and does the job a damn sight better I might add. ATV.s made sense at sub 10,000$ they no longer make any sense now
@brad86658 жыл бұрын
David Stanley I'll agree the prices are getting outrageous, and I'm sure your truck does just fine on atv trails, but there are some areas that atv's fit that trucks can't, they are smaller than trucks, no getting around that.
@carlypellegrino1378 жыл бұрын
+David Stanley Here in Colorado there are thousands of miles of trails that require your vehicle to 50" or less to travel on them. You find me a PU truck that is 50" wide and I will buy it.

Honda screwed up big time by never answering the "RZR' market created by Polaris 9 years ago and I hope they do that soon as the market seems to be into SxS machines heavily! This P500 is not and will never be a competitor to the RZR 570! 2 totally different machines. Honda needs to fix the P500 by updating it with a locking front differential and changing the seats to adjustable bucket seats and adding stock items like bigger 25" or 26" tires, way more ground clearance, tilt steering wheel and a softer ride as STANDARD! I would buy a P500 if it had those things as standard because I have owned many Honda ATV's over the years and the quality and dependability is un-deniable! Right now I am looking seriously at a CF Moto Z Force 800 Trail! For the money($10,500) it has a long list of upgrades that would cost about $4K to add to a RZR 900 that sells for $16000 bare bones. Are you listening Honda!

Lol Honda is a joke. If they are trying to compete with Polaris ranger at least make the towing capacity more than 1000 lbs the rzr has a higher tow capacity and its a sport side by side. Don't get me wrong honda does make good ATVs but they r doing the side by side thing way wrong.
@zachroell17146 жыл бұрын
ColeKTM I wish they made a sport side by side. I’m gonna buy the Honda over the Polaris though because you can’t argue with the proven reliability of a Honda. They never have had the most powerful ATVs, but they’ve always had the most reliable
@cwqrpportable5 жыл бұрын
I don't believe Honda is trying to compare with Polaris on any level. They have the resources and the engineering prowess that if they did want to compete, they could blow Polaris out of the water. Honda is self assured and confident as a company.
