Tried this on my 2017 F-Type and no joy. Jaguar put more tech than they know what to do with and made it a nightmare resulting in an expensive dealer visit. I tried a plugged in trickle charger and a jump pack under the hood (Documentation says to NOT connect to the battery direct.) and still i get a 3 second light flasb and then dead and car wont do anything after sitting connected for hours to a charger. If i unhook then hook back up, i get that 3 second moment and i was able to run and hit the trunk pop at the back to get access to the battery. Now I have the battery disconne ted and charging it independently. So if your out driving and this happens, your screwed. Now I see why Jag was sold to Ford and then an India company. Because of crap like this. Yeesh!

You did the right thing to pull the battery and charge. It should work out as long as the battery can hold a charge. We have a 2016 F Type right now and been charging it directly on the car. Still works, but you need to keep an eye on it.

@@YOUCANIC update: I tested the battery with a voltmeter i dug out of my wiring box and it tested at 6v. I thought "No way'ots 6 months old" so i removed it and borrowed my neighbors super awesome charger and it said the same thing. So relucta tly i got a replacement and car started right up. Thinking back, i realized the car was trying to tell me something and i just didn't connect the two. The trunk stopped auto opening when the car was off, only while running. This was due to the low voltage. Yet the car still started and ran fine till i left on my trip. So the lesson, if the trunk dont auto pop when its off, test tour battery.
