Honestly, most people who bitch about certain SUVs not having "real" off-road capabilities would never come close to needing the abilities of even a basic Jeep Wrangler. 4WD or even AWD, decent clearance, and the right tires are 90% of what makes a good off-roader. The remaining 10% are great, but nothing that most people are ever going to need.

It's funny how most professional reviewers never recommend this vehicles...but the majority of the people who own it... love it....it all comes down to you, your style and needs....and of course budget. Great and fair review! I might get one

Finally. A review where the reviewer isn’t crapping all over the patriot. I had one. Loved it. Traded it in for a Dart. Stupid decision because 1, lost my 4x4 remote start and heated seats and 2, it would be paid for by now. I’d have no problem jumping back into a used Jeep Patriot in 2019.

I own a 2015 Black Hawk Jeep Patriot and I love it. It's such an easy car to drive super comfy and it's got all one needs to be running around using it as an every day driver.

I just purchased this Jeep yesterday. I already love it! It's by no means "outdated" and "barbaric" It's a very clean and smooth ride. Has everything I need all together in a no nonsense package. Being budget friendly is a bonus.

It's now 2021 and my 2015 Jeep Patriot is still running like new.

I have a 2016 fully loaded High Altitude Patriot and I love it.

My vehicle is Jeep Patriot 2008 I like it because cheap in gas an 4x4 and it’s very nice driving in winter when it’s icy and snowy. I’ve been using it for 10 years

Yeah, it's outdated, but it can be purchased cheaply. Right now there's a $3500 rebate. Plus, it looks like an SUV, not like a minivan (Honda CRV, Ford Escape, etc) and has a true 4WD system. In addition, the chances are if you buy a car that's been around for 10 years, whatever problems the car had originally have long been corrected.

At last a positive review of the patriot. I personally own a 2013 Jeep Patriot limited.The only mods are Bridgestone 215/60R 17 tyres & A Pioneer AVIC multimedia system with Am/Fm radio CD/DVD with sat nav & reverse camera. Awesome car! practical & functional.No it wont tow a 20 ft boat or caravan,But for 2 people with the rear seats down,heaps of room for a tent,sleeping bags esky etc With the 2.4 litre engine & 6 speed cvt acceleration is good, A bit noisy at higher speeds above 80 kph but hey nothing an extra layer of sound deadening underlay wont fix. Heated seats are very good & the steering wheel is excellent ,fuel tank is small at only 51 litres,could be a larger capacity.Full size spare is a bonus, As with anything mechanical,look after it,keep up the service & maintenance & it will look after you! NOT a hard core off roader,but reasonable on dirt tracks & creek beds definitely would not recommend sand or mud driving.

You forgot to mention the throttle bodies and intake manifolds have to be replaced and causes alot of Crap

I would say this is a good suv for city driving and really good in the winter, however I drove it the highway lots of uphills and mountains and I gotta say it's underpowered and passing is kind of hard on this engine you have to rev it high or floor it to get it going, that's the downside for this vehicle and oh fuel economy.

WOW! 22.0 MPG. avg (speaking of guzzler!) I'm doing 21.7 MPG avg in my 2005 GTO (a 3725 lbs vehicle with a LS-2 V8 engine) using 87 octane gas. Then what's the point of having a 4 banger engine anyways?

Mine doesn’t have heated seats mine doesn’t have the touchscreen radio mine doesn’t have the control center in the dash mine doesn’t have the leather wrapped steering wheel mine doesn’t have four-wheel-drive my rear seats don’t recline I do not have a full size spare I do not have an automatic dimming mirror my interior is cloth black mine has the cheap aluminum wheels mine doesn’t have the power outlet on the center consul mine has a 2.0 L engine makes about half that horsepower. Mine has next to nothing compared to this

make this one bigger with atleast 7 passenger capacity. v6 engine and larger tires. you will see.
