I think there's lots of people like us who saw the 2016 redesigns and thought nope! Going to be a lot of 2015 owners upgrading this year I think. I went for the 16" in the end. Saw them side by side and the extra real estate was too tempting to pass up.

Thanks for making this video .. there are a lot of 2015 loyalists including myself waiting to take the plunge into the 2021 M1 as most of us have, as you mentioned been waiting for something as functional to get as a replacement. Im curious to know if all your apps remained the same after a possible data migration and the best points that justify an upgrade after a few days of using it
@chrismytton2 жыл бұрын
All the apps I use day to day seem to work as expected, just much faster! I'm a programmer so I did run into a couple of things that needed extra effort to get them working on the arm64 processor in the M1 chip, but nothing that a bit of Googling couldn't fix. Best points that justify an upgrade: it's fast, like really really fast. The screen is amazing, bright and detailed. The battery life is amazing, even running Google Chrome I can use it heavily for 8+ hours per day and still finish with battery to spare. Keyboard is a pleasure to type on. Oh and the speakers, they're quite something.

Just got 2021 upgrades from 2015 First impressions on appearance: - 2015 keyboard feels great to type on and looks nicer which each key seperated -more curves and sexier look on 2015 much more sleek design - closes and opens smoother from more padding on screen outsides - apple logo glows on back It feels like the design stepped down. I’m not saying 2021 isn’t nice. But it isn’t as nice IMO Obviously without a doubt the 2021 performance is a killer. But I still look at my 2015 in awe of its timeless body it was the best design they ever put out.

That 2015 still has the looks! So much more refined design-wise. Everything is just perfect: no black between the keys (who came up with that!!!), no speakers to fill with cheese and crumbs, no filthy bezel under and above, nice taper and rounder corners so it looks much sleeker, not that humongous trackpad.... The design of the 2015 is a straight 10, still after 7 years, where the 2021 is a mediocre 7+. Also boot time is similar (you run a 2015 on Mojave off course, and not on Candy Crap Crush Monterey).

@@danny6269 With them dongles floating around it looks killer! Modular synth spaghetti Yum! And that trackpad. Was it made to park a SUV upon? Way too big. If it was a Wacom, OK, but it isn't. The old Trackpad is way better to handle. Less phantom mouse jumps or weird scrolls.
@danny6269 Жыл бұрын
@@lovemadeinjapan what dongles do you need for the M1 Pro? USB A is becoming obsolete, rj45 port is obsolete for a laptop, DP is not necessary when laptop has thunderbolt 4 and hdmi. Trackpad is also large so you don’t have to hold and drag finger over and over without letting go when you run out of space. Trackpad is also optimized for more gestures and engineered to prevent mouse jumping and palming. Display is near oled, amazing ppi, and fast refresh 120 hz. Keys are uniform and not spaced out like teeth that need braces. Speaker audio is rich and deep. Device is always cooled and boot time is lightning quick. Battery last forever, never worry about failing cards, spinning hard drives or third party components. Design is sleek and representative of contemporary aesthetic and premium product, a timeless classic.
@lovemadeinjapan Жыл бұрын
@@danny6269 Strange, my 2015 boots faster, and I found the trackpad highly annoying. Maybe it is because of extra gestures that it feels so weird. And USB-A is not obsolete. It is sturdy as heck, easy to repair and just works. Can't say that of USB-C. Sure, the new machine is cool, but the price is 6-8 fold in EU. Not worth it. But worst spec of the new one is it runs Candy Crush OS. And no Linux or Windows.

2015 still is a better design overall to me. I'm not a fan of the black keybaord tray, the notch, the lack of USB-A (which I still have to use everyday and likely will for a long time yet)... overall, I'm super happy apple is coming around, but I will remain a hold out on my 2014 retina for some time longer as it still does what I need it to and looks better doing it imo.
