That only made things worse. They were only down 8 with 15 minutes left! Reminds me of the Soviet hockey team in 1980. They were not accustomed to the physicality and speed of the Buckeyes. Plus, after that first touchdown drive by the Ducks, the Buckeye defense had already leanred how to adjust. In the inner circles of Buckeye lore, it is often said that that defense went to the sideline after that first TD by Oregon and said to the coaches "We got it"...as in: we have already figured out Mariota's cadence and pace. Did the Ducks have some success and big plays on offense after that? Sure. However, the Buckeye defense pretty much dominated after that. Thanks to superior athletes with high football IQ combined with a stellar coaching staff, it took one series for Ohio State to decipher Oregon.

That was not the case with Oregon in this game. The Vegas odds had Ohio State favored in this game. USA hockey over Russia 1980 was one of the biggest upsets in sports history.
