I produced and directed this piece back in 2015, It turned out great. The company I did it for has removed it from YT which is why I am reposting it here. Edited by Rob Vernola. Featuring Kirk Hammett, Michael Schenker, Jose Mangin, Eddie Trunk, and more.
Enjoy,
Mark

It’s so cool, how Michael goes in and out of major and minor scales, which most heavy metal guitar players do not do. He’s harmonically so much more advanced than most rock or metal guitarists.

@@blahzay_ But when he said _Michael you're incredible!_, he was perfectly spot-on. Of course the class difference was obvious (even the sound difference as soon as MS first touched his instrument) but at least the master / pupil relationship was respectfully kept up. Kirk behaved well and showed so much enthusiasm. Later on Michael invited Kirk to guest on the first track of Michael Schenker Fest's album Resurrection.

The homage and respect to this extraordinary talent is way overdue in my humble opinion. However, and most importantly, Michael Shakers playing is unparalleled and he plays effortlessly off the cuff.. kiddos for the attempt to trade licks with the master.

Michael Schenker was one of the premier melodic shredders in the early 70's. He could mix acoustic with metal and produce the most gorgeous contrasts in tone and color, and on the same track. The albums Phenomenon and Force It are must listen favorites. Some of the tastiest guitar you will ever hear. I cut my teeth on these albums. Learning to play these tunes will turn you into a guitar player. Promise.

Kirk is not used to jamming... he doesn't even realise that the chord progression/tempo he chose is boring and not suited for improvisation. People who jams a lot know which tempo and chord progression to choose when there is no rythm section. It might have been interesting to play over this chord progression but it would have required a rythm section (drum +bass). if you want to hear Schenker jam with another guitarist hero listen to this instead kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oa5hYNGmm564Z58.html

When he says he has a chord progression, he's making a joke. He's playing a 12 bar blues in the style of UFO's Strangers in the Night, written by Schenker himself. I think Eddie should’ve gotten more camera time. I would’ve liked to know how he made this all happen and how it made him feel.

This is from the show That Metal Show that used to be on VH1 Classic. About a year before this Kirk was a guest on the show and Kirk and Eddie talked about UFO and Michael and Kirk told him that if he ever had Michael on the show to call him and he would come and be on the show too which is what Eddie did. MTV bought VH1 Classic and made it MTV Classic and canceled That Metal Show. It really was a show that helped Metal Heads keep up with alot of the Hard Rock and Metal Musicians.

Dont have to be a guitar "expert" to hear how shitty Kirks playing is here, it does take someone whos tone deaf if they CANT hear how bad his playing is though.
