Do u feel that there's any lack of power? And are the back seats really that small you think? Thinking about this as my first car
@SoulCharter
@SoulCharter 8 жыл бұрын
The power is great. But I hate driving in a straight line. This car handles and is agile. It's not about drag racing it's about attacking corners and enjoying your daily driving. I love my car, it's perdect for me. Especially when it's 25 bucks at the pump and I can enjoy my drive everywhere. Horsepower is over rated. Trust me, this car might have less horsepower than other sports cars, but horsepower is only one small aspect of driving.
@rdpnoy5839
@rdpnoy5839 8 жыл бұрын
+SoulCharter would you say this car is for a first time car owner? I don't really care about power at the moment, just want a practical car that handles good.
@SoulCharter
@SoulCharter 8 жыл бұрын
+RD Pnoy I dont know bud. To be honest, it handles extremely well. You could get yourself into a lot of trouble. You do not want to get in an accident, but this car begs to be pushed. Self control is a huge concern. But its a great car to work on and great car to drive.

You've been consistently making some of the very best car reviews on the market! Awesome attitude + super informative on technical aspects. Very refreshing to see your well educated car enthusiasm, while still being humble in this era of ridiculously pumped up egos on much of today's social media and car culture. Last year i bought a 2020 Subaru tS and just a couple days ago I replaced a family car and bought (was lucky to find while i serviced the BRZ) a 2018 Subaru Impreza Limited - both cars seem amazing for different reasons; many of which you eloquently describe on the reviews you've made on BRZ and Impreza. I also watch your reviews on other car tech which you explain well, while keeping it fun, interesting and relatively easy to understand. Thanks once again!

The cup holder is supposed to be facing the other way for it to be fully secured. The pins onto which it latches to are of different size on either side of the passenger compartment, which prevent you from putting it in the opposite direction.

Very nice review and you really got the point of the car. The handling is just outstanding. Although I hate the Primacy HP Prius tires on it. Yeah, sliding a little on dry roads is fun but in the wet they are a pain to drive. I've put on 225/40/18 Continental Sportcontact 5 on my GT86 and got a little camber adjustment on the front and I enjoy driving it like that way more then before. Just gives some extra confidence and if you really want to you could still move it sideways. Never gonna regret buying my GT86.

I've watched other car review videos and by the time the video is half way through I'm bored out my mind. Other videos tend to miss information you want to know about while others repeat the same thing over and over for 20 minutes. Your reviews are spot on, entertaining, and informative, I even watch videos you post up for cars I don't care for. Along with your other videos explaining specific hardware such as shocks, differentials, and so forth, this is a fantastic channel. With that said, would you be able to get your hands on the 2015 (or 14) Audi Q5 Turbo Diesel? As well as the Q7 with the same setup? I know you can't pick and choose at the moment but if you can get a hold of either or both that would be awesome. Thanks.

I would just say that you can carry people in the back for short journeys, especially if they are under 6ft, I've done it many times before. Also the gear change is only notchy when cold, once it warms up it's really nice to use. Other than that great review :)

I don't think the car needs any more power, but I think it does need more torque down low -- though with a high-revving engine, obviously more torque means much more power. So from that perspective it should have more power, but that's not the end of it. I would say Roots blowers like the Cosworth and Innovate Motorsports kits fit this car like a glove. They don't make super insane amounts of power, but they do give it just the kick it needs. And the best part is that this is also the best cheap chassis for making super insane amounts of power since the 240sx -- possibly the best ever. It's rigid, it's light, it's aerodynamic, it's got a really solid engine that can withstand a lot of forced induction, and it's got a nice long wheelbase. AND, it's the only long-wheelbase car under 3k pounds ever built to modern NHSA safety standards (that isn't a one-off worth hundreds of thousands of dollars).

TurdFurgeson571 I think it's a myth. Number of seats doesn't mean cheaper or lower rates. I believe the saying came about because 2 seat cars are usually sport cars with more expensive parts and more daring drivers. So insurance tends to be higher. The rear seats are mostly marketing material to say it's a "practical" sport car.

If you turn the center drinks holder 180 degrees, it'll slot itself securely, because of unequal size tabs/sockets on each side. Basically, that pocket that looks like something designed specifically for an iPhone should be on the driver's side.

Hey man you should up your production value by getting someone to film the outside of the car by driving along, beside, or in front of you with various go pros to capture different angles. Also you should have some go pros hooked up to the outside of the vehicle. I know go pros aren't cheap but maybe do a kick starter or something or think of it as an investment. And it doesn't have to be go pros I just don't know of very many cameras. I know motortrend does this and heck you could maybe even buy like a quad copter for aerial views. Just some suggestions.
@franksang5014
@franksang5014 9 жыл бұрын
Do we really just want to be looking at the interior and his face the whole video? The video is about the car not his face... So in order to better showcase it angles such as those would be a godsend. Plus if it was just fluff why the heck would literally every single review on cars implement said methodology of filming. People are drawn to changing scenery and are often bored by the same shot of him so in retrospect this seems like an obvious choice to increase his popularity.

Frank Sang I agree it could certainly be more aesthetic. I make do with the equipment I have, and more importantly, the amount of time I can devote. The future is always unknown, things can certainly improve with time (as they should), but for now the system seems to work well without hindering my low budget, limited resources, and limited time. Thanks for your feedback! My face certainly isn't the best thing to look at.

+Engineering Explained On the subject of the transmission, I ONE HUNDRED percent agree with the decision to go manual but I test drove an FR-S today with the tiptronic shifter (thats all they had on the lot) and I was extremely surprised at the precision and quickness that the gearbox is able to shift with. My takeaway was that if someone can't or doesn't want to learn how to drive stick, they will still have 98% of the experience that the manual can give.

Is it true people in Oregon don't pump their own gas? If so, wow.
@EngineeringExplained

MattHumanPizza Yep, part of the reason I only use the trip computer's readout for fuel economy.

There are some states where you can't pump your own gas, I'm not sure if Oregon is on that list tho

How accurate do you feel the trip computers really are? I've always thought they seemed off.
@EngineeringExplained
@EngineeringExplained 9 жыл бұрын
Pickle312 I've done some light research on it, based on what I've read it seems they'll read about 5-10% high. So for a car that says 20 mpg, it could be off by 1-2 mpg. Close enough for a general idea.

Cool, I figured they weren't exactly accurate. I don't personally have a car that has that function though

NOT BASICALLY 2-SEATER! I have an FR-S and we roll 3 deep regularly, occasionally for multiple hours. 3 average sized Americans. Yes, the third wheel does have to sit on the passenger side in back, put their feet under the seat, and let the front passenger back up as far as is comfortable. Yes the front passenger has enough leg room, but they'd probably both be completely mangled in a wreck. We've on several occasions managed to get four people in the car, but it requires flexibility--read severe risk of torn pants--since I'm not willing to compromise my driving position. No I don't recommend above average sized people or anyone who's over the hump buy the car expecting that capability. inb4 this is a BRZ review: it's almost exactly the same car. Engineering Explained has a video detailing the extremely subtle differences between the two. The interior size and layout is not changed in any aspect that would effect my point. The FR-S seats also back all the way up; they won't even go to a lounge position when backed up.

MitsuFQ400 Yeah, lots of cars do that. Mustangs have been using sound tubes, and more recent ones like the Ecoboost even use stereo sound which is worse. BMWs have been doing it too.

Nice cars. I ALMOST got an FR-S but I liked the Si drivetrain quite a bit more. The FR-S was a bit more fun.

Series blue seems pointless really, and makes the car look ricey IMO... Btw, this is the best review of the BRZ on YT! I love your channel! Btw, it would be awesome if you could compare it to the 370z, I think they're surprisingly comparative!

I like seriously see you every video I watch😂. And since you have dropped the gen coupe for the wrx, what are your thoughts? I am seriously considering on getting a 2015 wrx, brz, or s2000 but can't make up my mind. Do you think the wrx is worth the extra money over the other two? I like driving feel over power but the wrx seems like the best all rounder as opposed to the other two. Thanks in advance.

DJ Mesturd on tha beet Well the WRX isn't any more expensive than a BRZ. I never drove the BRZ (Kind of regret not even test driving it). I live in Texas, in a area with lots of straight roads, the main reason I didn't get the BRZ. Whats the point if you can't use the best part about that car? I actually really like the S2000 too, but my brother got me hooked on the Subarus. I was all so wanting new, but if I was looking for used again I would have defiantly considered one. It has such a great engine for what it is, and its one of the few convertibles I actually really like. I would say at least test drive the WRX and BRZ and see which you like better. Which is easy, they will both be new at the dealership.

Makes sense what you chose based on where you live. Since I live in California the twisties are more readily available. Thanks for the reply, you made me think about where I would be driving which I never took into account. Makes me lean more towards the brz and s2k. Cheers!

DJ Mesturd on tha beet I did sit inside one of the floor BRZs. And the cabin is fantastic. The seats are great, and the manual shifter is super short. If I lived in Cali, I would have probably gotten a BRZ.
