Idk how you can drive this car and say that the power kicks in at 4k rpm... full torque hits in the 2,000's. Its just a plain lie to say that the boost threshold (the lag) is that much when its not

i traded my 07 sti for a 17 wrx and let me say: wtf, this car handles like no other. it carves through like a hot knife. only bad thing is needing to stop on slippery surface with these factory summer tires, you can go but stopping makes the abs go nuts. never thought wrx was worthy enough, it is!!!
@KingZD1
@KingZD1 4 жыл бұрын
Could you tell me the difference? Im looking to get 07 sti or wrx Vs 2015+ wrx. Is it really worth it to get the 15 plus? I heard there more unreliable. Im trying to make like 300-350 whp for a daily.
@MrStlover99
@MrStlover99 4 жыл бұрын
@@KingZD1 07 STI was a blast. I had stage 2, turbo back exhaust, intake and tune. I was neck and neck with a 2012 mustang GT up to 153mph. 2015 WRX is on another level with cornering, I think. I could have just been because it was new. You can do a lot with these cars but you have to have proper tuning. I went to a reputable tuner for my 07. It was good for a year, then started over boosting and the tuner checked it but did not aft like he really cared. So, tuning is everything and dont skip steps, just throw mods on the car.
@KingZD1
@KingZD1 4 жыл бұрын
@@MrStlover99 i hear you, cuz im tryna get into the subie scene and ive been thinking of 07 wrx or sti versus a newer 2015+ wrx and not sure which way to go for a daily. i still got like a year to think about it.

@@KingZD1 better hurry before you get like me., lol. I been studying wealth for 2 years now. Have a couple businesses and traded the 17 wrx for a Ram pro city. I'm going to purchase a Tesla model s through my business. Never thought I would leave subaru. Anyway, that will be a great experience for you even thought they cracked down on street racing. You will not be disappointed

If power was coming on at 4K RPM, then your car was broken. Power comes on at 2.8-3K RPM in mine. Thats not to say that it does not kick like an absolute mule at 3K aha. One of the great things about the new engine on the 2015 is the new twin scroll turbo, as for the first time ever the WRX doesn't drive like a turbocharged car from the early 90's. That being said I think you reached a very good point at the end.

I own a 2017 and the power comes in at about 2k - 2.5k rpms in second gear and it really starts to pull in third. It feels ("feels") like it loses power at above 5k rpms, but it really doesn't, it just seems to because the turbo spools so quickly in the lower rpms. I had a hard time getting used to the earlier boost coming from a 2010 mazdaspeed 3 which had a lot more turbo lag (but damn was it fun when that turbo kicked in) :D

Just got my dark grey metallic 2015 6MT WRX Limited last week! I LOVE it exactly what I wanted to get out of my boring 2010 RDX. Don't really agree with this guy about driving full throttle, there is boost coming on at about 3200rpm. I am currently in break in phase for the first 1600km so I have not felt what comes after 4k rpm but look forward to it. So far car is awesome and I am fully enjoying it. Mods to come soon, JDM Dual console upgrade over stock armrest, tinted windows and short throw shifter in time and the list goes on and on!

The power delivery problem can easily be fixed with a AccessPort from Cobb tuning. I got it, and it completely changed the way the car performed under various throttle positions. It makes the power delivery more linear like its older brother, the WRX STI. I absolutely love driving my WRX now.

Just got my WRX base and couldn't be happier. I traded in my '12 Acura TSX, 2.4L FWD. WRX is a much nicer car. Even though I lost leather seats, Auto down reverse mirror, auto dimming rear view mirror and L Door mirror I still like the WRX a lot more. I took it on some dirt and sand ( really slow, fresh paint c: ) and it handles amazingly. Most of the driving I did was on curvy roads for about 45min. I was impressed. Or should I say...Imprezaddd....

+dsmluck I may be biased, but the new wrx also has its fair share of problems that many people are running into. for one, cracked pitch-stop mounting bracket is one that is common on the stock wrx.. Yes, everyone likes to joke about the 2.5 EJ motor the STI has ringland failure problems, but that doesn't mean everyone who has an STI faces this problem. I for one am still on a stock tune and track my car and do not have engine issues. Clocking in 42,000 miles on the car now.

Can't believe he complains about the low end power and then he praises the transmission. There's a lot of slop in gear changes until you buy an aftermarket shifter stop. Shifting from 1st to 2nd smoothly in city driving conditions is kind of a pain. Clutch feels pretty good, but the revs don't like to drop fast enough, so you need to be really slow and gentle with it.

You might be surprised. Subaru has such a good safety rating and at least with my insurance the difference between the same model year n/a Impreza and turbocharged STI was $100 six months. In other words the extra power does not appear to contribute greatly to the insurance price, more just the price difference between a base Impreza and STI should they have to pay out damages.

+ajfam871 They lost my car!! Lol I ordered it in May. It was supposed to take 3 weeks but still hadn't received it in August! Ended up getting a Lexus IS 350 F Sport Series. How the fuck do you lose a car??? Lol Not that I don't love the Lexus but I'm going to eventually get a Subaru before I die. Looks like a really fun car.

Better than the sti. Can be made to match the sti in performance and still have a far better engine at the end of the day. Better powerband and fuel economy and strength.

This model isn't as good looking as the 2011-2014 model and not really faster either. So, what's the reason to buy it?
@lb37
@lb37 9 жыл бұрын
You need to see it in person trust me when I say it grows on you, but imo all wrx are ugly. Also it's plenty fast for what it is, granted your not going to take down some american muscle cars. But if you want a 4 door car that's standard and still makes decent power with great agility your're very limited in choices.

Subaru stated themselves that the new one is made to handle better than the previous gen and its only like 0.3 seconds slower 0 to 60 in a straight line. But who buys a subie for straight line speed? It all about the corners.
@TWHISPERER
@TWHISPERER 9 жыл бұрын
0oz It's not like it's slow in a straight line but these new Subies are....nothing special over the past models...the performance times just don't back them up as being any different except in design and a little bit in handling.

Sure, but I needed something economical (with a manual) that could handle itself in the snow, and the Subie hit all those points. I can understand it not making sense in Cali, or the Southwest, where you dont have as much of that need.

moldyrefrigerator you sound really dumb. clearly you've shown that you don't really know the lifestyle car demographic as well as you think you do, the WRX isn't a skateboard. most high kids also go to community college and state schools, and a few privileged students go on to a top private that costs over $50,000 a year. the sticker price alone doesn't make private university a thing exclusively for people over 22 does it? it's an expensive product marketed for 1. high schoolers, and 2. older car enthusiasts, end of story. there's far more of 1 than 2. take a drive out of your shanty town for a day to a nice area and open your eyes. I own one of these, fall into category 1, and there's a large population of people my age out here in colorado and on the west coast that do as well. come talk to us about cars when you get a driver's license, it'll be an upgrade for you tony hawk.

WRXs in the past were all ugly, but looked aggressive. This gen is just ugly. With that out of the way, the WRX is fast, fun, and reliable in both winter and summer, for well under $30k. Add in its insane resale value, and you have a car that is in a class by itself.
