This vehicle is the perfect fuel saving alternative to a small SUV or crossover. Under the hood is the venerable 2.0 liter TDI engine that makes 150 horsepower and 236 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy numbers are 31 MPG in the city and 42 MPG on the highway but owners across the country average far better figures than as reported by the E.P.A.
Handling is crisp and responsive, as the Golf SportWagen will run circles around the Prius V and any small crossover. The rear cargo area provides 66 cu/ft of storage with the second row folded down. Compare this to the Honda CR-V which only has 4 more feet of storage. Volwagen TDI Wagons have carved out a nice niche in the segment for those who want great fuel economy and wonderful driving characteristics along with the versatility that a wagon affords you. The new Golf SportWagen TDI takes it to a new level with class and cargo capacity.

I'm still loving my 15 TDI Golf. The mpg is much better than what was on the sticker. Oddly I get better mileage the warmer the weather... haven't figured that one out yet. I got the SE with the 6 speed and am glad. I commute 80 miles a day so the fender audio with the sat radio is great entertainment. The 6 speed manual makes it fun to drive... that's probably a guy thing. I've had my golf almost a year and the novelty of having it still hasn't worn off. I've had several Toyotas and Hondas but this VW is just more fun and entertaining to drive.

kansas tennessee Diesels is more efficient and generates less heat hence it needs more time (and fuel) to reach work temperature.

Great review of a great car! An AWD option and maybe an Allroad/ Cross Country package with more ground clearance and more aggressive tires would be a great TDI upgrade!

I’ve seen some people have added an aftermarket limited slip differential to their TDI with great success.

I love the way he told us the Steering wheel feels just right. You see @MrNuggetFace it's reviewers like Jeff that give us detailed REAL sense of touch, and the walk away for us is like we were the ones test riding. Thanks Jeff Awesome Review. How are the VW's holding up these days?

That seat belt dye is way off. Wait for the '16. New head unit, USB Ports, probably more safety tech offered and I suspect minor front end changes. Still looks like a business fleet car and the 2nd row could use a bit more legroom. Otherwise it's hard to beat that TDI.

I own a 2015 sportwagen. Watching this video makes me laugh in a funny-sad kind of way... his comments about "conspiracy." hahaha, oh boy. If you only knew then what we know now.
