In the pros (9ball) so many balls have to mack it back to the breaking side of the table and if you watch the break after he make those balls in there isn't any balls at his end of the table. So technically in the pros they consider it an illegal "soft" break. Basically not enough movement of balls

Obviously, the breaker drive a four numbered balls into the rails. So, that foul break rule was not necessary into that particular break (2nd rack). In some tournaments like in this video, there's additional rule such as a number of balls (most of the time 3 numbered balls) have to reach the head string. This will avoid the breaker to break very soft and create cluster of balls for his advantage or make long hour of playing time.

@@sojarnitsuj Not in this tournament. Like what I said in my first comment, "in some tournaments like in this video, there's additional rule". This tournament take place in Japan and you can see that after the break, he never reach the allotted 3 numbered balls to touch the head string. The Japanese guy is a champion of numerous tournaments in Japan and he will not give the table to Efren if he knows that he doesn't commit a foul.

At least four balls have to hit a rail. There is no rule about having to pass the headstring.

@@gerardoa1392 - I'll give that a try. Thanks. After I replied to this, which is about a year ago, according to the time indicated, I learned about using the arrow keys to jump forwards and backwards.

But did you know that I have a unreliable short term memory and forgot all about your suggestion, and your 2nd reply served as a reminder to try the J,K, and L keys, which I will do almost immediately, before it slips my mind again. (tic-toc, tic-toc....) I'm back to report that the J key jumps the video back 10 seconds (the back arrow jumps it back 3 seconds), and the L key jumps the video ahead 10 seconds (the forwards arrow jumps it ahead 3 seconds). I will use the J and L keys now more than I will use the arrow keys to jump the video back or ahead, because often I want to advance it or retreat it back as much as 30 seconds. The K key has the same function as the space bar, which is to pause the video. Good to know because I'll be familiar with the J and L keys and so the K key will be there, and I'll be cognizant of it's function, whereas, I've noticed that I often forget about using the space bar key.

It's a 9 ball diamond rack inlaid in the table. You can get tables with it built into it if you choose to

I don't know what break you're referring to, but one reason might be an illegal break, where 3 balls don't pass the headstring, or are potted, so if 2 balls were potted, but nothing else passed the headstring, that's illegal, and play switches to Efren

i suspect they must have a weird rule such that the break alternates, but kind of 'counts for nothing' regarding who shoots. efren won the previous game, the break is purely functional, then the player who had been shooting at the end of the previous game continues. reason I think this: efren won the very first game, but the opponent broke. He put in the one ball, but sat down and Efren continued to shoot. Maybe a rule that says the act of breaking is alternate, but cannot stop a previous shooters running streak??? So although E. broke dry, did he win the previous game? I would bet he did.
