This would be my next Laptop. The market is littered with ultrabooks, but none of them pack a numeric keypad which is a huge boon for working with excel.

I JUST found your channel because I was looking at the Asus Zenbook. I must say, I do an LOT of graphic design work and A LOT of video editing as well and it's really hard to find an affordable laptop that looks good and does what I need. I started venturing in the gaming laptops but found that the price wasn't worth it. I absolutely loved this video and thanks to you, I found out about the Dell XPS 15. I have no idea what windows laptops are good unless I look at the specs. Keep up the great work!

I recently bought this laptop for 1100 Euros in Macedonia - south east Europe. I must say that I'm not an expert on laptops but the performance this machine is giving is extraordinary! I managed to get a really nice performance package. i76700HQ Skylake processor, 8GB ram, 256 m2 SSD and on top of that I got a NON GLARE DISPLAY, no touch screen. The machine is booting and ready to work in about 6-7 seconds. The screen is just amazing, no reflection at all. Also I'm amazed with the scaling this laptop has, It's has a great resolution, all my programs seem more spacious. The exact number of the model was Asus ZenBook Pro UX501W - FY010T. I e-mailed Asus to give me Info about the FY010T number and got a replay saying that that particular batch was for the Ukrainian market. Somehow I bought it in Macedonia. All in all, I can say, I don't regret even one bit buying this Laptop. And for all those who have second thoughts, I can say, buy this laptop and you will be very happy with it. Don't read too much internet, the keyboard is great the screen doesn't wobble and It's just great. It's not just that I'm satisfied with the purchase but actually I'm really really happy. It's just amazing. Thank you Asus! Buy this laptop!

I was considering a UX305/501 for my next laptop- until I saw your review (as well as Dave and a few others) of the XPS 13"/15". Now I'm a proud owner of the XPS 13" and am not disappointed at all! Also, I can't take normal bezels seriously anymore. 😂 Dell knocked that Infinity Edge out of the park.

Great review. I found the audio to be very weak on my unit and tried using my Skullcandy Hesh 2 Bluetooth Wireless Headphones and found the audio volume was still very weak. For some reason when I attach the headphones with the wire the volume is much better. I don't use the touch screen much but when I do it seems to work as one would expect a touch screen to. I use this to edit most all my photos and now is my go to for my photography business, It is incredibly fast and the screen when editing I feel is better then the macbook pro 15" retina screen " Sorry Mac Fan Boys" All in All a great work horse at a great price! I will say, I was really surprised it was not upgradable alot of there machines are I would have liked to have been able to max out the ram and install a larger hard drive.

Not a badly specced laptop, only seen a few laptop at that price with numeric pad, though they should have implemented 1440p screen with a better GPU. 960M on a 4k screen is kinda useless when it comes to gaming. Would make a decent portable editing station though! Loved the video btw! I do like the new pop up animations, those are pretty slick!

Hey Matt I'm torn between this or the razor blade stealth (Kaby Lake). I do mobile gaming (if any) on 1366 x 768 when I'm at my buddy's place. I really just want good battery and decent typing with a dGPU. The razor core allows me to upgrade the graphics but I see myself playing games like Siege and For Honor on it as well as games like CSGO. What do you think? will a 960m cut it?

Dang this thing is a beast. Could surely be a desktop replacement if anyone is in the market for one.

I want to get this laptop but I'm worried that it only has 2gb of graphics card. My other option is ASUS ROG GL502VM which has the same graphics card but 6gb, but none of the cool features like 4k or touch screen. (and it is really ugly looking.) Thoughts?

Great vid. Comparison please because I was going to purchase the xps 15 but this review has my decision a little bit cloudy

I'm having in now for month and a half approximately and everything works just as expected so far. My main concern as a game developer was to have fast laptop, but still with good rendering abilities and this one is so far so good. I wouldn't agree that is a price-friendly laptop, since 1500$ is not small amount. Yet compare to others, it could definitely be considered as one. Shit is getting more and more expensive this days. The only problem is that it only has 256G SSD, which is about 230G with pre-installed settings. I personally don't have any problems with it since I really don't use much of the space, and if I were about to need it desperately I can always get external HDD.

I have the ZenBook pro and its freaking amazing!!! There are a few problems I have with it though... The 4K display is great but I find that there isn't enough content to actually make use of this and if you use FL Studio 12, some of the plug-ins don't scale, but as 4K becomes mainstream, this will become super useful. Another issue I have is that the charging brick is cumbersome as well as the "Dark Grey" lid color can actually appear purple Its a great laptop and future proofed for maybe use till 2019, if you're nice to your electronics, and you can also squeeze up to 8 hrs of battery if you are very frugal with usage

I still don't get why people use touch on a laptop, it remains a marketing gimmick to me, along will these QHD screens. I use on my lap mainly and it is so more productive to keep the hands on the keyboard and of course you don't gunk the screen up. For non power users the screen resolution is overkill and I prefer the battery life, my 40 inch TV does not even have that resolution! Samsungs marketing has a lot to answer for. Good value for money for the spec but I would pay the extra for a MacBook Pro as there are some great discounts currently with the new model due out soon.

Hi guy's, i've bought this laptop in France and I have a SSD and a HDD in it so if you need to upgrade it it's a good point. Also it's light, no more than 2kg, and when I put the HDD outside of the computer only 1.6kg ! I recommend it ! And the screen resolution on my model is full HD but for me it's enought. The price was lower also, only 1.100€ on amazon.

Upon opening mine right out of the box I found that the lighten keyboard did not work. I have had to pay $30 to ship it back and now may take weeks to get it back. I'm selling it as soon as I get it back on ebay. They could have at least covered the shipping. Crap service if you ask me.

Quick question... You said you had no problem editing 4k with this laptop. I ended up buying one for video editing projects and am satisfied overall. However, when I try to edit 4k, it really bogs down and glitches in my software. I have been using Lightworks Pro. So my question is: Does software have an effect on performance?? If I were to switch to Adobe for instance, would I have an easier time editing 4k??

What they never get is how important the sleek look is.Like this pc is good but if they would invest in a new chassi with the same quality as macbook pro.I think they would have a much bigger group buying it.

I can easily open the lid with one finger on mine, no extra hands needed.. Just like mac style. And I didn't bother with the touch version as it adds weight and thickness, and that it is quite glossy on the UX501.And you are criticizing the weight, please find me a laptop that has a highly specced i7, 960M and 15 for the same price as the UX501VW and is slightly lighter.. The only real competitor I can think of is the XPS 15, but is way more pricey. There are some other competitors to the Asus, but they weigh the same with the same sepcs. Your other alternative would be to go for a 14 and without a dedicated GPU.

I got this, not happy with it, complained to Asus, motherboard died in one month, and the sound pops, they gave it back yet the sound still pops if you disable the mic it stops? something really weird about this. If its doing what it is supposed to for you , then yeh its a good laptop I was pretty happy with it before all this.
