In this video, you will learn how to change cvt transmission fluid on your fwd and/or add CRV as well as the rear differential fluid. I go over the correct amount needed for trans and diff capacity as well as the proper manufacture torque specs from Honda. I used OEM HCF-2 transmission fluid and dual pump fluid II for the differential.

We know the capacity says 4.5 quarts but it feels very likely that you won’t drain 100% of the existing fluid. My advice would be to measure the amount you drain and only add that amount back in when you go to fill. Nice video - simple and easy to follow. Thank you.

My question for you is: if there was no leaking, how do you know the pervious mechanics had put enough transmission fluid into the car? What if he put too less or too much in and then becomeing a bad reference for you.
@bwe1223
@bwe1223 Жыл бұрын
@@larry5872 after doing the job, I can tell you there is a separate drain plug above the main trans drain plug that you have to unscrew after you fill the fluid. The sole purpose of that upper plug is to drain out excess and avoid overfilling. Feels like that wasn’t covered in this video.

yah, i agree, warm up transmission through driving, and then put in what you take out.

You should check the level of transmission fluid every time. There's also a procedure. Something like warm engine until fans cycle twice. Then check the level. This is after you've done the drain and fill, and shifting through the CVT "gears" .

I’m with you! I have four steps that lead to a small gate and my patio enclosure. FEDEX and Amazon refuse to open the gate and set the package inside. They will set the package outside against the gate that by the way only swings outward. So my two options are to either jump over the fence or knock the package down the steps to open the gate. 🤬

Very helpful. I used a hose funnel for the trans and put the hose through the loop in the wiring harness at the top and I could just pour right in

My dude, the way you placed the jack stands is DANGEROUS. If the car started rolling back those stands would not have done anything to stop the vehicle and would have just fallen over since the force on them was sideways and not downward. For anyone watching this in the future, you are better off using the emergency jack to place the stands.

If you're doing this for the first time in the vehicles history, yes the bolts are supposed to be that tight, they're that tight from Honda Motor Co. Just use a breaker bar and go slow so you don't snap anything. Check your fill plug first.

You pull out the fill-plug so the old fluid will flow more easily, but then talk about how it will all rush out and so you have to hold the drain plug in place to moderate the flow. Maybe leave the fill plug in until most of the fluid has drained out?
@StayOnTheGas
@StayOnTheGas 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah you could do that but it’s more of a hassle to have to get out from under to pull it out and then monitor the flow again. Definitely doable though.

You also loosen/remove the fill plug first in case it is stuck...you don't wan't to drain out your diff fluid first and then discover you can't ge tthe fill plug off.

@@markmuellerleile6656 Oh yeah, absolutely. You always make sure you can loosen the fill plug before pulling the drain plug. I feel sorry for anyone who learns this lesson the hard way.

RAMP CLIMBING: I'd like to know more about why you couldn't climb those ramps. Did you ever figure it out? Thanks for great video! I am about to change trans oil on 2016 CR-V AWG with 67k miles (no kidding!) I'll access drain plug one way or another. Fill on level ground. But, I'm just curious about non-climb on ramp. Best wishes!

This is a year late, but it has to do with the software that splits power between the rear anf front tires. Look for "CR-V roller test" on youtube.

You risk a potential leak so I highly recommend just changing it out. Sometimes the leak isn’t too big but for a trans that doesn’t get serviced too often it’d be better to get a new one on there.
