This video was very helpful. I have the 2016 HD manufactured late 2016 and therefore used the newer 2017 battery configuration- but the installation is the same. Measure your old battery length to save you time in case of return, it will be about 1" shorter. 1 hour job total thanks to this video. Costco has the AGM style batteries, $300 for both.

Thanks for the help don’t know why gm had to put that junction on top of the battery.

You can make the passenger side arm swing so you dont have to take it off or even loosen the bolt covered by the rubber flap. Loosen the bottom of the bracket that meets the arm in the middle. If you loosen it you can spin it just enough to get the large arm to pass by. Thanks for the guide it helped me out!

Also using a small pick tool from harbor freight allows you to loosen the 3 side tabs on the passenger side junction box on top of battery without out loosening any of the junction wire nuts

batteries are in parallel not series. Need to remove positive cables from both batteries before begining any replacement work. For passenger side, slide plastic hood gasket to the front, then remove plastic hood gasket by also pushing to the front and away. Then remove bolts for cross members. You'll need to remove/move the air filter box and coolant reservoir to get the old battery out and new one in. always always always, re-install the positive cable first then ground cable. You never want your wrench to arc from the positive post bolt to any grounded part of the body/frame.

Thanks for the guide. May have already been said but the passenger side brace does not have to be completely removed. Once both the rear and middle bolts are removed it can be FORCED to swing past the middle brace toward center of truck. I loosened the bolt under the plastic cover one turn which I think helped. Would have definitely been easier if the center connection tab was toward middle of truck rather than outside.

Does anyone know the part numbers or what the name of those supports that cross the battery’s are? Front skinny ones and the thick rear ones.

Use to replace these battery's all the time at the dealership it's crazy easy after you figure out how to not fight the clips holding the box on top of the battery

It is much easier if you remove the bolt from the post on the passenger side rather than using needle nose. Remove bolts and slide the cross bar

I did not use any of the youtube videos as None showed my 2016 3500 configuration on the passenger side. That can be a bitch if you do not number the cables in the plastic cover. Your rig wi9ll not start. You will have lights and power but will not turn over. Found out the hard way. Once I got the cable on correctly, if fired. I had taken a picture of the cabling before I undid the bolts. What you did not say is all 5 cable nuts and cables must be removed before the box will lift off the battery.

It took me like 5 minutes to do it man you dont need to take so much stuff off
