@@alexmason2659 Yes, I didn't properly word my comment. I never believed that we should have been ranked that high, top Ten, maybe 7th, but not #4. We did ok in the first half but it got tougher as they made their adjustments. And of course the pick 6 right at the end of the half really hurt. When you are an out gunned team fighting to keep your head above water that's an anchor you probably won't be able to over come. We did have several of our best players out with injuries. Would they have made a difference? Absolutely. Enough to win, probably not. But it would have been a better contest.

That's the most shocking thing. Washington DID have a great offense. They averaged 42.4 points per game that year prior to the Bama game. That's elite. I don't understand why they choked so badly against Bama. I think their play calling was too safe which was a stupid decision by the coaching staff considering that Washington's defense was elite and thus the offense could take risks if they wanted to.

At least Washington didn't lose 63-28 to their SEC playoff opponent (LSU). Washington shut down Bama to less than 1/2 of the amount of points that LSU dropped on Oklahoma in 2019. In 2018, not even 2 minutes after the 2nd quarter started, Bama dropped more points on Oklahoma then they did against Washington in 2016 all game. Bama led 28-0 and finished the game 45-34 after Oklahoma scored a bunch of garbage time touchdowns. If there is any conference that shouldn't talk smack about the Pac-12 and their playoff teams, it's the Big 12, whose playoff team has always been embarrassed in the playoffs. At least the Pac-12 actually has a playoff win (Oregon in 2014), and at least Washington didn't get blown out of the water like Oklahoma did against Clemson in 2015, Bama in 2018, or LSU in 2019.

Even Baylor would've had a more respectable showing against LSU than Oklahoma did. And no your premise that LSU was this unstoppable juggernaut that obliterated everybody is simply false. Texas lost by only 7 points. Okay I'll give you a break LSU was playing Texas at Austin and it was like their first actual game so we won't count that. Fine, then let me give you these other examples. Florida played LSU in Death Valley, and was in fact leading at one point in the 3rd quarter. Florida lost by 14 points, and it was a one score game till like 5 minutes left, and Florida had two red zone opportunities, one of which was to tie the game earlier on and they threw a pick, and the last one of which was late in the 4th quarter when they could not convert when they had an opportunity to make it a one score game. Then LSU played Mississippi State next, Mississippi State lost by 23 points, that's almost 2 touchdowns less that what Oklahoma lost by. Then LSU played Auburn, which it beat by only 3 points. Then LSU played Alabama whom it beat by 5 points. Granted. That Alabama game was lost by the end of the first half but at least Bama made a comeback and a bunch of garbage time touchdowns made the game respectable. OU couldn't even do that. Then OU played Clemson, and while they did dominate Clemson, the final score was a far more respectable 42-26 than the 63-28 against Oklahoma. Few teams in the country would've been embarrassed as badly as Oklahoma got embarrassed in 2019, because few teams in the country had such a terrible defense complimented by a painfully mediocre offense. Oregon was most certainly better than Oklahoma in 2019, and I'd argue that even an 8-5 Washington would've had a more respectable showing than Oklahoma. Till the Big-12 actually wins something of note, they will remain in my eyes the most irrelevant conference in the country. The Pac-12 might be in a dark spot now, but only flyover country hillbillies want to pretend that their Big-12 conference is more relevant than the Pac-12 but take out Oklahoma and Texas (who frankly has been irrelevant for a decade), top to bottom, nobody gives a flying fuck about the Big-12. Far more people are invested in USC, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Arizona State, UCLA, Stanford, and even Colorado and California than they are in the Big-12's mighty Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, TCU, Texas Tech, and Baylor. You might think otherwise, but you'd be a fool to do so. Bad management does not mean invested fans. All those Pac-12 teams I mentioned above, especially USC, Oregon, Washington, Arizona State. and UCLA have far higher ceilings than the vast majority of the Big-12, and I'd argue that USC has a vastly higher ceiling than even Oklahoma.
