2016 Philippine Rise (Benham Bank) Expedition Full Documentary

In May 2016, Oceana joined scientists from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the University of the Philippines (UP) for an expedition to Benham Bank, the shallowest portion of the Benham Rise. A dazzling array of soft and hard corals, fish, algae, and sponges was documented by marine scientists in the week-long expedition.
In 2017, the Philippine government renamed Benham Rise as Philippine Rise. The following year, the Expanded National Integrated Protected Area Systems (ENIPAS) Act was signed into law, making the Philippine Rise a legislated protected area.

kalipung-awan ang tawag namin sa lugar na yan...matagal nang nangingisda ang mga taga Catanduanes dyan! 1960's-1970's andun kami nakatira sa isla tignob, notheast namin ang benhamrise o kalipung- awan...walang hirap mangisda dyan madali ang huli bangkulis tuna at iba pa..mananawa ka! yung klase nang tuna na pinakamahal sa amerika/japan andyan mahuhuli...matagal na namin natikman! noon noon pa namin nailuto sa kusido!! bakit nga pala nila tatawagin ang lugar na yan nang kung anu anupa?

Actually before it is a UN property not ours which is named "Benham Rise" and in 2012 UN grant us the whole property. In 2016 the expedition started and that is the time that "Benham Rise" is so rich in marine diversity. Walang Alam ang UN dati na mayaman ang lugar na yan sa isda kaya naibigay nila saten. Pasalamat na lang tayo dahil nagsagawa ng exposition ang Oceana to see what is inside that place.

North Eastern Coast of Philippines are not much inhabited no Cities just small villages specially in Isabela and Cagayan Provinces.....road were not crosing on the coast while Aurora is quite more populated but not much as Baler aa the largest in population.
