I believe this car has "rev hang" where it won't let the revs drop whilst shifting for a few seconds. (Actually detrimental to the shifting performance.)

Why wouldn’t you? By the time you’ve hit the highest rev range, the turbo has already fallen off and it’s quicker to shift around 5.5k

On my Forester SG9 the turbo spools effectively from 3500 to 5500 rpm. 2.5 230hp with TD04 turbo complete stock :)

Yes, and you may not believe me but check other videos of the STI with CVT, it accelerates faster than the 6-speed manual.

They are a lot less safer than new cars and have a lot less comfort items. I would much rather look at the interior of a 2016 Sti than the bland interiors that older sti's and evo's have!

Is your forester modified in anyway? If so your argument is invalid! Cant compare a modified xt forester to a stock Sti. If not modified i still dont see your point as it was demonstrated that the sti would be faster by almost a second even from this slow shifting person.

Does your Z32 have 4 Doors? Does it have bluetooth? Touch screen infotainment? A nice Looking interior? Could you put a child seat in the back? Does it have a safety rating as high as a 25years newer STI? Does it have anything worth comparing to the STI other than 4 Wheels and a couple seats? Stop comparing a purpose built sports car to a sedan that is 25 years newer, has much different safety standards to uphold and has a completely different target audience. (300zx/z32's are very nice and fun cars none the less)

Probably, but the 9 year newer car has an interior that is generations nicer than any impreza/wrx/sti prior to 2013. Even the previous model to the MY14 Shape had an interior that looked like it should belong in your 07 impreza. or even a blob eye.

Is your outback modified? If so your argument is invalid! Also, this car would be better than your 06 outback in every single other way....Except boot space. It will brake faster, turn faster, looks nicer, handles better, has a much better interior and is most likely a lot safer in an accident!

Genuine curiosity... my Subaru Liberty GT spec.b 06 easily (stock 2006) goes 0-100km in 5.3 seconds as subaru also state (some times got 4.9 on a good day) why does the liberty GT seem to go quicker than the highly looked upon wrx when speaking stock? Would they be quicker beyond going 100km?.. what apart from being slower are these cars getting their name from. Persoanlly prefer the interior of the liberty (07 specifically because mine is a model year 07 with the facelift, dunno if they changed the inside) WAY over any wrx. Apparently 2020 wrx cars are actually going to start getting quicker 0-100 times tho

True, but still, imagine a situation when you sit in your awesome subaru, you wait for the green light and a passat stops beside you. On the green light you launch as fast as possible and the passat leaves and you lose.

MaslAlek no one would buy that car for stoplight launches. even a golf r with manual would loose it. of course the diesel would beat the car from 0-50. it has 500nm right at the low revs while the sti has still that old engine with a single scroll turbo.
