I like that you mentioned the engine speed at 70. One of the better reviews, as i don't care about styling details, just how it drives.

Dealers are discounting VWs heavily...these can be had for 5k off list easily. That is a lot of car for the money!

I saw one in my town, 2015 1.4t SE and it was puffing out blue smoke everytime the man driving it stepped on the gas. I really do like these though.

here in our country my dad owns a VW Jetta with the 1.4 TSI DSG with 160ps and 240nm and it is damn fast

He speaks! Great review. I had the 2014 Jetta 1.8t and it sounded just as good as that lil 1.4. Even tho I'm sure mine was quicker. They are boring to look at yes. But for the money you get a great driving car if you can overlook some drab plastic! And dull styling! I drive a 2015 Passat tsi now. Love it. Looking at a base Jetta for my 16 yr old at the end of the year.

I traded my 2015 Passat for 2016 golf sportwagen in august and now have 5k miles. 90% of my driving is freeway. I am getting 26 mpg only. I do set my cruise on 80 mph. If I drive strictly city I get 20 mph. I would trade engines if I could but I got to have a wagon

Conner Hendrick well i am driving Golf 2 `89 atm and it is okay ;) I know last years VW and other manufacturers dont produce something like that. Still trying to choose, what to buy.

+Aleksey Sverbeev I do not know what country you come from, but I would recommend a Honda Civic, Subaru Impreza, Mazda 3, or even an Audi if you can afford it

WhoToTrus why do you say that? Do you know if they solved the issues with the Mechatronic and weak Pistons? I have the MK5 and I've had two Mechatronics go bad. On the market for a car right now and I'm deciding between this and the 2016 Civic. The only thing I'm not fond of is the CVT on the Civic. I love the Jetta though. If I knew for sure they ironed out the issues, I'd get it in a heartbeat.

I have a 2012 SE and it's actually whisper quiet in the cabin. Wind noise does get a bit excessive over 80 mph though.

at 5:47 he floors it from stand still, and hits just under 60 at 5:55. its really not bad for a 1.4 but it just made me question his wording when it was called not slow. to each their own. i have a 1.8 tsi and am kicking myself for not getting a gti, but all in good time.

Smatchimo Ok so 0-60 in 8 seconds with the automatic....thats not bad at all for the base model! The manual would be a bit quicker...drove a 1.4 S turbo manual today and was very impressed! Plus it gets 40+mpg highway!

buildmorefarms100 just under 60 but yea, like i said its not bad for 1.4t. im glad they got rid of 2.0 NA engines
