Todd Ullmann I've had mine for 3 months now. It is still a blast every time I turn that key. I've had it into high speed desert riding, and I've also done some serious trail riding with it in the mountains. I will say however, if you're into slow trail riding or you're looking at the scenery this is not for you. The yxz is made for one thing and one thing only, to haul ass. Oh and I have had no clutch issues whatsoever. I can still honestly say it's one of the funnest Vehicles I've ever driven.

one more thing if you're thinking of buying a new one save your pennies till September. I believe they're coming out with a turbo model close to 200 horsepower.

I hope to be on my friends Can Am X3 this weekend at the track to try it out, but I really love the ability to shift and get the revs where I want them.. just simply a cool factor for this older guy. LOL

+DJ yxz for me i test drove both an they both are very nice machines the ss does do alot better than the standard shift model in the woods an mud but overall build quality goes to yamaha, loose plastic pieces all over can am an cheaply made glove box ,but overall was a close call , was going to test drive a polaris but it broke an axel only a couple hours old

i have to say with out a doubt polaris capture new riders. with low prices ,no shifting,one brake lever, they attract new riders..the sad part is they find out fast they are junk for the most part. we have a year round site at a atv park in PA .i have seen so many break downs with polaris i could never count them all. on busy weekends with about 1000 riders ill see atleast 10 break downs, broke axles seem to be number 1 .then electronics ,diffs,belt and clutch issues, while i almost never see a yamaha or honda being dragged ,can-am m seem pretty good as well. as far as the yxz goes i love it ,only thing i wish they did was put front fenders on it ,in mud it blows getting totally covered ,iam looking at places to mold a set for me.

yeah not sure why polaris trys to reinvent the wheel , but with awful drive lines people seem to still buy them . honda and yamaha had it figured out 30 years ago polaris should be building off a tried and true setup

The problem is CVTs rob around 20 to 30% of the engines power before it hits the ground. That's why they're coming out with machines that have a hundred eighty plus horsepower. so they're putting around 130 horse to the ground and they weigh more. The direct drive on the yxz only rob's about 5% of the engines horsepower before it hits the ground. If I'm not mistaken yamaha is going to make a factory turbo model coming out in September close to 200 horsepower with 180-plus hitting the ground.

to put it simple if you're an old school Rider like myself it's like comparing a Banshee to an old shaft drive ATV.

the fox X2s on the SE model are truly amazing once you get them dialed-in most amazing thing I've ever driven.

read up on the fox X2s, most advanced shock to date, only offered on SE models for 2017. 6 adjustments per shock. elkas are wonderful but an older design.

Can’t figure out why Yamaha has no turbo but they kind of cater to adding a turbo. Basically same engine they use in the Yamaha Sidewinder snowmobile which has a factory turbo. Just weird how they think...?

They make a kit thats around a few hounded bucks that will boost your hp by a lot bringing it to 200+

WRONG.. GA is street legal as long as you carry the insurance for them. They are a class 2 off road vehicle that is not required to carry a tag or a title. Look up ga codes.. Plenty of us out riding on the roads to get gas and maybe run to a close to home trail. quite of few ride around marrietta, and we ride woodstock all the time. Helps to contact the county traffic expert and let them know you are out an you have insurance. They will alert dispatch, biggest issue is the ignornat who call the cops cause you are not tagged and think you are on an ATV.. GA code define a ATV as a single seat with handle bars.. NO where near what a UTV is.. Just dont be an azz on the street and it will remain legal..

shit the yamaha,s have pushed the polaris out on short coarse racing ,plus i wouldnt take a polaris if ya gave it to me ,,i couldnt afford to repair ir every other time i rode it lmao

+FastRat24 the ss yxz is a nice machine the can am is huge I have run them both I just like the yamaha better for me , so to all be happy with what you like if every thing was the same life would be really boring all of these machines are badass they all have excellent qualities

Jimmy Jam, you are right. All great machines, buy the one right for you and how and where you ride. Does not make the other brand bad, if you don't have a dealer close to you then don't buy that one, parts will be a pain to get. Ride and enjoy what you have and be safe, by the way, I have the 2017 Yamaha YXZ 1000r SS SE and love it

The X3 has a slight performance advantage, but does not come close to the quality of the Yamaha.

The reason I did these two was the cost was close to the same. No need to compare two units that are $6000 apart. You are correct, it is 900cc.

They sure look nice I gotta say. At least I could drive a jeep on the road also. I realize a jeep is a little big for some trails, but for that kinda money, i could have a fleet of nice used quads

Those machines does not have such a mass production as production cars. Many things on assembly line cannot be fully automatized such as production of roll-cages. IMHO the price for profesionaly developed pure sport car is relatively low.
