Marques needed to fall behind the leaders before changing to slicks so they would be unaware of his change . He started on wet soft tires which made the others confident to stay with their med wet tires on the start . The longer they stayed on wet tires the further behind they fell .

Smart race by Marc as always. How important is to adapt quickly to the tricky conditions and in that Marc is a master. Important win after the previous in his temple in Sachsenring

Even for Marc Marquez a break from MotoGP , that long , is just too long !! Remember Dani Pedrosa back then when he took a 3 months break for arm pump surgery, when he came back he said right away : I can’t fully ride the bike its scaring me at full limits!! A 3 months break took Dani almost 2 months to get back at it like he used to !! And even then, Felt like Dani was never able to ride as fast as before . Marc took over a full year including winter , it’s already amazing he was able to even win a GP that soon after his comeback !! I believe Marc is getting older/wiser, realized he can get back to his old ways performance wise , but understood he needs to take his time before he goes all in, if he feels like he might easily make mistakes compared as before, then he’s risking his health/bones/muscles and might be game over for him if he do so . 93 is just too talented to fail , @ 3/4 of this season he’ll begin to push and help HRC to make their bike competitive again ! Don’t forget that part neither: Lorenzo retired before the end of his contact with hrc since his riding style just didn’t work on Marc’s HRC bike setup, HRC “can’t blame them for choosing not changing a winning formula" chose to not adapt the bike to Lorenzo, after his retirement Alex replaced him and Marc had his injury and left, leaving Honda with Alex and guest riders on marc’s bike , made em unable to successfully modify their bike / be competitive @ other main manufacturers due to lack of experience @ their riders "yes Bradl is experienced and a good rider" but he doesn’t have the DNA and level of a Marquez/Lorenzo/Rossi ect ... I miss seeing Repsol HRC fighting for the top results every GP , be patient it’ll happen really soon fellas !!

by changing bikes early, Marq was able to rapidly advance as the others on ran tires continually lost more and more time unable to speed up They needed to change no more that 1 lap after Marq, but that might not have helped them, such a chess game. Rossi waited too long, poor timing strategy
